Latitude Festival 12-15 July 2007 - How was your Latitude? Have your say

What can you say about this one - Mean Fiddler certainly pulled it out of the bag with this one, a rare treat and a very chilled out festival with so much on offer people were really spoiled for choice. Wasn't sure when this one was announced whether there was a place for it - but I was wrong. Latitude fills a gap that I don't think we were aware really existed - a touch of genius from Melvin Benn.

They even managed to be voted number 4 in the Guardians best festival poll - quite an accolade for a new festival. On top of that they won the won Best Festival, Best Alternative Festival and Best Overall Facilities in the BBC 6 Music Poll. As if that wasn't enough that they got themselves voted Best festival by The Independent On Sunday End Of Year Review - it looks suspiciously like they got it more than right with Latitude.

Latitude is certainly 'more than just music' it has a really chilled out ambiance where people can marauder and wander from music to comedy to poetry with art and politics thrown into the mix as well. A real eclectic and clever mix that goes into ensuring that this really is a festival with a difference and a difference that makes it quite special and magical.

This festival is the brainchild of Melvin Benn who, when launching it said: "Expect music, art, comedy, cabaret, film, literature, theatre, performance art, dance, sculpture, workshops, restaurants and bars offering waiter service" The intended aim was to provide a more European feel to the festival - it certainly exceeded expectations and is set to become a must for those festival fans who want a slightly more discerning experience that's broader than the usual.

Keep an eye on Latitude - it's just that bit special ......

Beautiful historic site - Henham Park Estate is recorded in the Doomsday Book 1085 and has been in the Rous family line since 1544 - it's gorgeous.

The website is packed full of information so you won't be able to say you weren't really well informed. Like we said, Mean Fiddler have excelled themselves with this festival. Highly recommended.
