9 Days Down - The Meek Need Not Bother

So - you like your music raw, aggressive, intense but you still like a bit of a intelligence lurking around eh? Why not check out heavy thrashing metal guys - 9 Days Down?

Hailing from Essex."9 Days Down" are an exciting new force in raw metal. Getting it together and forming the band in the late summer of 2005, this four piece spent the whole of 2006 gigging hard and creating a set of top songs.Combinbing muscular music with intelligent lyrical content they have quickly built a fearsome reputation as one of the tightest and most exciting new live bands in the uk. The objective of main songwriter and guitarist James Tyler is to create hugely heavy tunes which also blend hooks and melody - thus giving you metal with just a bit more...

In this he is ably assisted by the Herbert brothers, Peter and Simon on bass and drums respectively, this together forms one of the most formidable rhythm sections to be found in any metal band anywhere in the world. The final piece if the puzzle is vocalist Grant Stacey. A fine young singer who can use his voice to stunning effect and can change from a ferocious death metal roar to hardcore to classic metal melody in the blink of an eye.

Musical talent is here in abundance but the focus of this band is not simply to showcase individual virtuosity but create powerful, interesting and meaningful songs. Throughout there a big riffs, powerful drumming, funky bass, fast and furious solos and numerous styles of vocal delivery but most importantly each song stands out from the next and has something to say.

Live performance is where it's at - and here the band is in its element, and they are selling out renowned venues. Although only a four piece with one guitar the sound is huge and a suitably enthusiastic reception is guaranteed from any crowd. The band have attracted a strong following and their fans have absolutely loved the band having followed them through 2006. Their myspace profile is full of praise from those that have witnessed the live performances and from those worldwide that have appreciated the power and honesty of their music. In just 18 short months their myspace page got 4,1323 hits and the new album tracks racked up 13,162 plays between the 3 of them in 2 months. The band put this down to the combination of keeping a close relationship with their community and giving out great music that metal fans truly relate to.

James Tyler - Knocked up a profile in Deadbolt (as well as playing onstage with Corrosion of Conformity), but after loosing interest enrolled in a music college. After passing the course and taking some time out, Tyler decided to try and start one more serious band - enter 9 Days DOwn.

Playing his instrument for longer than any of the band (15yrs and counting) this time the bass player really isn't the weak link. Also formerly of deadbolt. Simon Herbert ( Sharky ) - Started life as a guitarist and singer. Simon has extraordinary drumming ability, knowing when to speed up the kick drum and slow down as best befits the situation, always trying to make sure what he does is never off the shelf.
