Chagstock 2007 - Chill and Relax at a great new festival in Devon

Going public for the first time since its inception in 2003 - those music officianados in Chagford, Devon are getting set to bring you what has hither too been a closely guarded secret known only to the chosen few - this new for public consumption event is to be known as Chagstock 2007 and the organisers are really excited about bringing you this one - it's already building on its previous successes so can a small intimate festival go large without losing the magic? if the general public love it as much as those already in the know this one is set to be a regular addition to the festival circuit - and the plans for this one are looking very good indeed.

This event was started by a group of friends in 2003 as a big but private party for around 100 people - a sort of micro festival held in the garden. It was very cobbled together but it didn't take these guys long to know that they were onto something a bit special - people were really enjoying the event and happily chilling out together in the big outside, sharing music, dance, space and spending time peacefully together, it became so successful that the organisers were spurred on to take the next step - making it public and therefore available to all of us - so they took a year off to allow them to properly organise things and this is the year is that first major step - this year due to public demand Chagstock is having it large.

The main concept behind this festival is to give some local bands the opportunity to perform alongside the more well known acts. The organisers also intend to donate profits to charity and are making the event to as non commercial as possible.

Chagstock 2007 is due to take place on July 14th at Higher Fields, Well Farm, Whiddon Down, nr Chagford, Devon. Three full 10 acre fields have been found and this location will give you the most glorious and dreamy views over the northern edge of Dartmoor.

Capacity will be restricted in order to keep this a small and manageable event where they hope to transfer much of the feel of the original event to the new site. There will be heaps of fun to be had but with a chilled out vibe provided by an intimate and relaxed venue which will be suitable for all age groups.

The festival aims to bring quite an eclectic mix of musical genres and there will be everything from acoustic folk to full on rock, flamenco guitar to Aussie digereedoo, Drum and Bass to Indie Pop/Rock, in fact it's intended that there should be something a bit special for everyone.

The line up is looking good for Chagstock who are bringing you:

The Saw Doctors | Martha Tilston | Obedient Bone | Alphaspin | John Fuller Band | No Crisis? | Evolution | Billy Don’t Be A Hero | The Chagstock Fame Academy which will feature such local heroes as Woody & Si, Sam & Grace and others yet to be press ganged! | Bettina | Terry & Pete | Life Of Riley | Clive Piggot | Guy Buttery | Thousand Natural Shocks | Pholklaw

In addition to the music there will be: Kids Pirate Ship | Stiltwalkers | Face Painters | Stall Traders | Licensed Beer Tent | Veggie Fare | Crepes | Spicy Stuff | Hog Roasts.....

There's lots more to be announced yet but it's all set to be a very full day - one to keep an eye on.......
