Feeding Time - a NEW event for South London

A new monthly full on live music night in south London

Launch Night - Sat 20 October 2007

One half-cut, Half Moon-lit night on the misty moors of south London, two Brixton-based music enthusiasts were stumbling home, lamenting the lack of decent live music on their doorsteps, the price of the cab home, and the quality of their regrettable chicken takeaway, when a low growl froze them in their tracks. The next morning, they awoke, covered in blood, and with no memory of the night before, bar a curiously vivid dream, in which a giant wolf commanded them to set up a monthly live music night in Herne Hill, lest others suffer the same fate as they and be condemned to walk the earth for all eternity. Or something.

A couple of months later, FEEDING TIME would become both stage and sustenance for international touring talent, the clued-up local riff-raff and knowledgeable outsiders there to feast on them, alongside breaking names from some of the best independent labels and collectives in the country. The Half Moon pub in Herne Hill is blessed with an amazing back room with space for just over 200 people, a late license and a freshly re-kitted soundsystem, and is right next to Herne Hill overland station (15/20 mins to Victoria, King's X, Farringdon etc), as well as buses to neighboring Brixton and Camberwell. Just don't stray off the path.

Sat 20 October 2007 - Mathew Sawyer and The Ghosts

Feeding Time is enormously excited to have Mathew Sawyer and The Ghosts play their first night. Mathew has drummed in Dan Treacy's Television Personalities, and is internationally respected as a visual artist to boot. Reverberated melodies, tin-can percussion and the sweetest concoction of string instruments create the most uplifting organic Lay-Low-Lo-Fi-Love-Fest music. Recently the band played Jarvis Cocker's Meltdown to enormous acclaim and we will be seeing the same full band line-up at Feeding Time. "Blue Birds Blood' is released on Stolen Records on the 24th of September. http://www.mathewsawyer.co.uk /

Fanfarlo
Fanfarlo have released 7's on Fortuna Pop, Fandango and White Heat records, each and every one of them exceptional. David Bowie has uttered kind words about Fanfarlo, and this flutter of the heart music is delicately beautiful and nostalgic without ever being twee or flowery. Fanfarlo have played shows with the likes of Architecture in Helsinki and Tunng, and are welcome guests to the feeding frenzy. www.fanfarlo.com

Battle of Balaclava
Battle of Balaclava (BoB) number members from as far afield as New Zealand, Glasgow and Brighton. After headline shows at Barden's Boudoir and the Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes, BoB will be supporting Sunburned Hand of Man at Old Blue Last in November, and are currently in the studio transferring their live psyche sublime oddness to record. myspace.com/battleofbalaclava

The Train Chronicles
Feeding Time's pal from Nunhead Martin Brignall AKA The Train Chronicles has just released his first EP for Real Gold 'Romancing the Bottle', which scored 8 out of 10 in Vice magazine. UK and Ireland tour dates as support and the bands bass player with Domino Records' Lightspeed Champion throughout October. myspace.com/thetrainchronicles

Beastmangoat's Lurking Hole lads will be providing some DIY literature and hand drawn gore from their touring zine collection. Some of the country's best zines available to buy on the night.

Magnificent Mr Wonderful and Mister Tai play records that you wish you had. Rare psych, 60s garage and Rock and Roll from London's hardest working record collectors. A fingerless glove each and their ready to go.
