Irritant - The Southwest Progressive Metal Crew

Who's making a bit of a splash in the Southwest metal scene? Gloucester based metal crew Irritant have been rocking their collective little socks off in and around the Southwest of recent times. If you like your music heavy, raw, and progressive nu metal in the 'new' sense - yet want some real music that actually shows proper rocking talent in there - then this crew could be just what you've been waiting for.

Not heard about them yet then? Oh rest assured - you will - not the least because in 2006 IRRITANT were awarded the title "Best Band in The Southwest" having won the South West regional final of the Global Battle of the Bands - and as we all know there are some great bands out there - so Irritant must have some edge to emerge as winners in this highly competitive market.

So then - what's being said about Irritant on the rock circuit?

High praise indeed for a band who have taken it upon themselves to step out into the market place already well trodden by some of our greatest, so can they really cut it and are they able to convince a highly sophisticated, picky and crowded metal market of their own metal? Do they have something to offer over and above your average metal band?

Well - have a listen to 'Old Bones' , this is some track, with a poignant and evocative beginning which is guaranteed to grab your attention as it slowly evolves into a decisively strong number that's both haunting and ballsy - displaying more than an average talent - 'Old Bones' shows the immense potential that Irritant appear to have in bucket loads if this track is anything to go by.

There's a brand new CD and video in the offing as well - can't wait to hear it - Irritant - should do some great stuff in the near future if they build on what they've got there, check them out. Have a listen to all the tracks here - be prepared to be impressed!

Irritant are packing them in at their gigs - with good reason, this is a talented bunch of guys who know their stuff and aren't afraid to show it, Niall's vocals can really soar and with it the rest of the band can excel musically with a range that roams from timid to gentle and then rocks well away bringing some right good raw and edgy banging metal into play. This band is completely at home in the metal genre and certainly seem to know a thing or two about rock, they have the potential to go places - go check 'em out - let's rock with Irritant
