Koopa - unsigned yet these guys are a chart success! - watch out - Koopa's about!
Koopa really do have it all going on for them right here and now - young, unsigned and really rather talented these guys got themselves into the charts and made UK Chart history by becoming the first ever unsigned band to have a top 40 hit. The download-only single 'Blag, Steal and Borrow' made it into the charts at number 31 in January 2007.
So - that's quite some achievement, a place in UK music history and an entry in the Guinness Book of Records to boot! and just when they thought things couldn't be better...would you believe it they only went and…… did it AGAIN!
Koopa’s single “One Off Song For The Summer” entered the Official UK Singles Chart at number 21, number 12 in the Download Chart and as high as number 8 in the UK Rock Singles Chart in June 2007.
Quite obviously these guys have one helluva lot going for them and what's more they are producing material that the fans are liking - and it's totally clear that they're liking it a lot - let's face it you must have a huge deal of cred to get so much success without the usual conventional methods of promotion the big boys put out - and the fact that these guys are really cutting it out there can only mean that Koopa are playing and producing credible music that actually means something to the music loving public - and the public are flocking to Koopa like the proverbial bees around a honey pot!.
Koopa also broke another record this year when they became the first ever unsigned band to open the prestigious Isle of Wight Festival. They also played to the largest crowd ever for an opening band at the festival - about 30,000-40,000 people! The line up for the Friday featured five bands: KOOPA, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Feeling, Groove Armada and Snow Patrol. The guys performed a stonking 35 minute set and left the stage to rapturous applause and shouts for 'more'- not bad eh? How many bands are up there enough to be given the opening slot at such a major festival - that alone speaks volumes about Koopa.
Reviews are looking good:
Koopa are "MORE FUN THAN NUDE TWISTER!"...
'KKKK'
Kerrang!
"More British Bulldog Charisma Than Wayne Rooney!"
Panic Magazine!
"Koopa are well and truly preparing to royally f**k s**t up this year"

Koopa are a band who really value of their fan base - the message they give out is simple:
“we wanna say how much we love our fans!... you are by far the sexiest people on earth... without you we'd be nothing.... you all rock the planet!”
Maybe the fact that Koopa appreciate their fans has something to do with their unprecedented success in an industry that is somewhat tough - at the end of the day it's the fans who count - and Koopa seem to know this and are able to relate to them in a way that really touches base.
Originally called ' Elastic Flange the guys worked at it and in August 2002 they won a local band competition - a sure sign that they were doing something right. Interest was generated and there were approaches from industry professionals - in 2004 the guys changed the bands name to Koopa and toured relentlessly recieving a gold disc for their singles "Stand Up 4 England" and "World Cu"p which featured on England The Album. A lot of hard work later and the guys came up with "Blag, Steal Or Borrow" - the single that gave them their place in chart history and cemented the bands commitment to a full blown career doing what they do best - making good pop/punk music that people want to hear.
Koopa's new single "The Crash" is another stonking great foot tapping explosion of sound that will be available to buy on Oct 29th. The new single should surely see these Essex boys achieve the wider acclaim their music deserves. Koopa are a band that have wide appeal - they produce catchy numbers that have the feel good factor and you just can't sit still - you just have to go with it - they are infectious, very likable and leave you wanting more. The Crash Tour starts on September 29th in Horsham and the lads have a few months of real hard work ahead - but we think they're gonna love it because it's what they do best - these guys simply live, eat and breathe music - even better we think you're gonna love it even more!
Koopa are also one of the hardest working young guitar bands around, having played their little cotton socks off with well over 200 shows in just three years - this isn't a band that has it handed to them on a plate - this is a band that have slogged it out for their place in music and
for their ultra melodic punk pop thrills - Koopa are a band who will ultimately demand your attention big time.
Koopa are putting the fun back into music - it's mischievous, impish, infectious and such is the appeal of Koopa that they are in constant demand! If you are looking for a good time look no further - Koopa have arrived...
Koopa - havin' it large and lovin' it! - catch Koopa on their mega 2007 tour
