Lilygun - Simply Awesome - Simply Stunning

Sometimes you get a chance to discover a band that have so much going for them you simply don't understand how you never came across them before - one such band we've just found is the simply stunning Lilygun.

This band is multi-faceted and multi talented - headed by Anna-Christina who is totally immersed in the arts and has been since she was nowt but a child. Anna-Christina is young, funky and very, very talented - what's really stunning about her is the fact that she has had more life experience than most of us acquire in a lifetime - not all of it good - but she is a born survivor - not one to let the shite that life throws at you to stop her in her tracks - which is quite good news for us given that she is able to translate and that life experience rather adeptly in her art and performance - it adds an extra dimension enriching the whole experience as a result.

Anna-Christina not only fronts an amazing band which is visual as well as rather cool - she is also a composer of classical music, a dancer - trained in ballet, a classically trained cellist and pianist - this singer/songwriter/guitarist oozes both style and passion - Anna-Christina whilst being a full time musician and a rock chic has also branched out and is writing commercial music as well as Movie Soundtracks and Piano compositions - and with a degree in Sound Engineering has become interested and adept in using sound effects.

This is a band with astonishing style, elegance, talent and charm interspersed with brutal weirdness and an honesty which is both breathtaking and almost impossible to categorise. You just can't put these guys in any particular box because like all the best artists they simply won't fit! - yeah they're rock but it isn't that simple because they're a lot of things - all of them very, very cool - how many bands do you know who go ahead and put on a stonking gig when their (now redundant!) drummer fails to turn up for an important show?

Music is about passion, emotion, feeling, honesty and social awareness - often the genius in those performers who are able to step above the crowd are those whose talent lies in being able to put across intensely emotional experiences that most of us can relate to in one way or another - yet few of us are able to express in a way that really connects - Lilygun do this effortlessly and the result is that they are able to perform complex music brilliantly - displaying a charisma that is going to see this band make it big. It's been said of Lilygun that:

Not willing to submit to the norm, Lilygun has the ability to create a strange and captivating atmosphere when playing live. When the question arises of who or what they are like, it's always met with the same reply, "I dunno"!

Anna-Christina literally eats, drinks and breathes and lives for music, it's in the genes and something she was simply born to do, this is a woman who has not only overcome much adversity but she has survived a massive brain haemorrhage suggests that this woman is not only a born survivor - she is born to a purpose - and that purpose is to bring us something musically inspiring.

It's certainly raw, edgy and aggressive - yet is able to transcend the label and produce some beautiful sounds - listen for yourself - make up your own mind.

Lilygun are set for very big things - this is a band that has rightfully earned their place out there - they can do the lot - and therein lies their genius - Lilygun can adapt from aggressive rock and punk right through to gentle ballads and everything in between. Adaptable and ethereal - nothing - but nothing is gonna stop Anna-Christina and the crew - they have what it takes and then some!
