Los Feos in motion! - a 7/8-piece Afro-Cuban Jazz/ Salsa band that play a wide variety of Cuban and Cuban-inspired music.
Los Feos have been going for about 1 and 1/2 yrs and have stuck with the present line up of Pete williams Bongos/ Congas, Paul Baxter - Bass, Chris Moore - Piano, Andy Hillier - Trombone, Sy Taylor - Sax, Beau Stocker - Timbales and Enrico Marchesi - Trumpet, Geoff Winkless occasionally joins them on Congas.
This is a wonderful and inspiring group of musicians who all have their own on going projects, Enrico having played with the likes of Omar Puente and Sonny Rollins, runs his own Salsa band calld Bourbon Y Tequila.
Si is one the of the
hottest sax exports out of Leeds at the moment playing with Jamil Sherif,
the Cat Pack and running the Si Taylor Quartet making him one of the
busiest.
Andy Hillier a fine trombone player has played all over the world
on the QE2, the length and breadth of the UK with the Pasedena Roof
Orchestra and USO ltd., he also indulges himself in his passion for
traditional Jazz and New Oleans music with his own band.
Pete and Paul run the band - because all salsa/ latin related events are
all based round dancing there was a huge void in the music scene for
musicians to play Salsa and latin music. In York and Leeds each city has
about 5/6 Dance classes, because of these figures Pete and Paul decided to
start a Descarga night (jam session) the first to be held @ the sela bar and
there is going to be a regular evening in York soon, but the idea is to
create a scene for musicians who love this music as much as LOS FEOS do.
