Misterlee - an original outfit .

So who are this motley looking crew then? What's the mystery of Misterlee - this is a band that seem hard to categorise and define - so how best to describe them? - dunno really but this seems to be the general feeling:

"A Bloke who makes quite amazing music. Defiant and independent of category, or... we don't know how to describe it apart from as very, very, very good indeed." (Unpeeled Magazine)

Their blogg says:
Armed with a drumstick in one hand and a microphone in the other: Pinning you to the wall with giant lo-fi beats only to turn on a sixpence and absorb in unsettling almost-silence, with lyrical snapshots of the human condition. All this amid the blistering free improvisations of guitarist J P Smith and the electric violin impressionism of Michael Curtis Oxtoby. This is not a gig for the feint hearted! Ultimately humanist; quintessentially English; Misterlee - both individually and severally, profess independence and originality.

So Misterlee seem to be something a little different and probably a bit gone on from what we can see! who are enjoying a busy touring schedule and playing extensively in both the UK and US - so something of a success story seems to be going on here.

Up to now there have been 2 full length Misterlee albums, released on his own Rubber Czech Records label: Chiselgibbon (2002) and Night of The Killer Longface (2005) - both have received excellent reviews and airplay.

So where can you catch these guys?

Misterlee are confirmed for the Summer Sundae 2006 festival and will be playing the indoor stage on Sunday 13th August at 1.30pm

They will also be found at the official warm up party to be held on the Thursday before Summer Sundae (10th Aug) at the Firebug in Leicester - this will be a sell out and there are only a few tickets left. Check out our gig guide for other dates and venues where Misterlee will be performing.

SO - WHAT ABOUT THE LIVE ALBUM? - Misterlee is not a Lifestyle Sandwich/Bootlegger - is still in the programming stages, though they are into the final throws of test CD's and artwork signing-off now. This is a punky little number, for those who understand that punk is a state of mind and not a pre-slashed, retro Pistol's T-shirt from Urban Outfitters. There are downloadable excerpts at www.myspace.com and live videos at www.misterlee.co.uk ...an important step in the Misterlee direction is this record. Release slated for late Summer - check it out NOW.

MORE RELEASES! Misterlee EP featuring studio and live audio AND video AND a Misterlee shoot-em-up game for your PC (all in sexy packaging) to be released on a brand new UK-based label in July .

Misterlee are set to appear on Tough Love Records compilation, available in UK and Japan this Summer - Labelman to release bespoke Misterlee composite mini-album later this year, with Europe dates to follow.

Misterlee at Electrical recording is pencilled for November 2006 - when they can tag Steve Albini's dates they'll be booking those flights and some Chicago gigs too.
