The Retrofest Music Festival - Bringing a touch of nostalgia
The very first ever Retrofest is set to rock Scotland on the 1st and 2nd September this year. This one is a huge celebration of everything that was the 80's - an era that brought a lot of fun to both the music and fashion scene and one that many people now remember with a smile.
Just how much fun are you going to have at this festival eh? everyone is getting behind this one and there is huge excitement about the prospect of Retrofest - isn't Scotland having the just best year for festivals? The addition of a festival totally catering for a different era is a superb prospect. Music fans can only benefit from the wealth of events that are being put on this year - and this one looks set to be a winner.
Retrofest organisers really seem to have hit on something quite special here and have said:
“Everywhere you look
just now the eighties are the hot period and the music was fantastic. It’s
timeless. The time is right for this sort of festival. Not only do parents
still fondly remember the music but a lot of their kids are finding it fun
and trendy too. "Some people might be saying that this is an old bands' festival but that’s
not the case. Good music never gets old – look at the Rolling Stones – and
the hits always linger.“All it takes is hearing a song like Love in the First Degree or I Heard a
Rumour and you’re back to your bedroom on a Friday night, getting ready to
go out to a disco, all the energy and nervousness inside you that came
from going out when you were young. Songs don’t get old, music makes you
feel young.“Similarly songs like Teenage Kicks and We Close Our Eyes, you hear them
and they still sound as fresh as they ever did. These songs aren’t old,
they’re timeless classics and who better to perform them than the original
artists?
As well as Retrofest bringing you 16 great classic bands that will transport you right back in time there will also be a fairground, plenty of stalls and other
activities yet to be announced - and all this will be in the totally amazing setting of Curzean Castle which is a totally breath taking location where you can let your imagination run riot. Mike Schafer the Property Manager at Culzean Castle and Country Park says:
"The National Trust for Scotland team at Culzean is delighted to be
involved in Retrofest. For too long people have thought of the National
Trust for Scotland as being a charity that doesn’t reach out to everyone
in Scotland and Retrofest is a way for us to show that’s not the case. We’re
for all ages. Culzean Castle has a long and proud tradition for fantastic events and we’re
sure Retrofest is the latest one to entertain people from all over the
world.”
So - we have a festival that's bringing nostalgia, a heavenly setting, a chance to see some great acts and an opportunity to relive days gone by! A bit of festival magic on the horizon......
