All about Camp Bestival
The brains behind Bestival are proud to announce the launch of a new sister show ‘Camp Bestival’ coming atcha July 18/19/20th 2008. Taking place at the legendary Lulworth Castle, set against the backdrop of England’s dramatic Jurassic coastline in Dorset, this is a groundbreaking three day camping spectacular par excellence. With an intimate 10,000 tickets on sale only it’ll hark back to the first ever Bestival, where magic moments were shared between special people, creating memories that last forever.
As well as the music there will be much more amazing stuff including:
Strummerville - Campfire Sessions (exclusive fireside acoustic sets by major acts) | The Knitting Tent | The Insect Circus Stage & Museum (our Second Stage) | Time For Tease | Kamp Karaoke Night | Underbling & Vow Cockney Knees Up | Dorset Cream Tea Appreciation Society | The Institute Of Physics – Physics In The Field (live science experiments & demos) | The World’s Largest Marching Band | Fancy Dress
More:
Camp Bestival’s not just about the music – its for friends and family who love the whole camping experience, tailored for kids of all ages and folk up for getting stuck into some of the bountiful fun and entertainment on offer. Camp Bestival are chuffed to reveal that The Insect Circus Stage and Museum is the second outdoor stage – so expect mad circus shows and trapeze mania featuring Acrobatic Ants and Vicious Vespa Wasps amongst all the music on offer there. And Underbling and Vow will be joining the party every night with a singalong Cockney knees up with Mickey The Fingers on piano and Rosie & Rosie going up the Elephant and down the Strand in a raucous fashion! Plus Time For Tease will return after their successes at Bestival 2007, once again fusing the tradition of British afternoon tea with the decadent world of burlesque cabaret!
Camp Bestival will also have the Worlds Largest Marching Band – headed up by their very own Ukulele Orchestra and Masters Of The Kazooniverse - they're gonna get everyone on site marching in their band on Saturday – bring a cymbal, trombone or sousaphone and get stuck into the festi spirit!
For the mini wizards out there Camp Bestival will have the Physics In The Field – mini science experiments and physics demos for kids and adults alike - see they’re educational as well as fun! For those who go dreamy over a scone and jam delights come join the Dorset Cream Tea Appreciation Society – a daily meet up of like minded cake and cream addicts!
Chill each evening around the flames of joy as the Campfire Sessions kick off – late night exclusive unplugged sets from some of the acts playing at Camp Bestival. Bring ya marshamallows! Also out of respect for the great man himself and self confessed camp fire fanatic we’ll be supporting Strummerville – a charity set up in Joe Strummers memory breaking new music, building great campfires and bringing a lot of heart and soul to Camp Bestival – check out www.strummerville.com for more info.
And it wouldn’t be a Bestival party without some Fancy Dress fun – The Flaming Lips love fancy dress almost as much as us so let's knock em dead and make sure we’re all dressed up to the nines!
