Glastonbury Festival 27th - 29th June 2008

Glastonbury 2007 - have your say

We are working on getting our 2007 review on line and have the beginnings of our image gallery up and running - there's lots more to be added including our 'spot yourself in the crowd' gallery - we'll get them up and on line in the next week!

Would you like your photos on the safeconcerts image gallery? Got any good ones? Let us know and we'll get them on line for you. Want to write your own review for Safeconcerts? Get in touch and we'll feature your review - Glastonbury is such a huge festival and it's many different festivals rolled into one - everyone has a different festival experience - what was yours? Contact Safeconcerts

So how was Glastonbury 2007 for you? In our humble opinion there's no other festival that comes close to the Glastonbury experience - did it retain it's crown for you this year? How did the weather affect your experience of the festival? Don't know about you but we find that the bad conditions mean that we only manage to get to a small percentage of the festival because it's so hard to get around - so we think the biggest frustration is about what you miss!

Chaos at Glastonbury!
Were you there for the Iggy stage invasion? - we thought this put the crowd at high risk - very unusual for Glastonbury - were you there? what did you think of it? leaving aside the safety issues for a moment we lost 30 minutes of the performance due to this - good or bad? - what's your opinion - you tell us.

So - the infamous Iggy - is the guy a hero or a villain?

What did you think of the security at Glastonbury this year? there are a number of complaints doing the rounds and we have one guy appealing for witnesses to an alleged assault - can you help? If you can please fill in our contact form below and let us know.

Oxfam Stewards were pretty amazing working all hours in the rain and mud - so did you have a really positive experience - want to say thanks to any of the guys that worked so hard to put the festival on?

We found a lot of friendly, chilled out and helpful staff - did you?

So - Glastonbury 2007 - all over for another year! We think the biggest heroes are YOU - the people who support it year in and year out - who's your hero of Glastonbury 2007?

Did you get yourself to the Leftfield and catch some of the amazing stuff going on there? Mark Thomas blew us away!

As always the Leftfield put on some amazing stuff - hope you loved it as much as we did!

Totally agree about Specialized Security being thugs. Brutish, unprofessional and totally unable to cope should any real emergency arise. Maybe this has something to do with the fact that they recruited staff for Glastonbury by setting up an 0845-line and employing complete strangers with no background check or reference? Then paid them cash in hand- well below min wage btw- all nicely off the books. Anyone who has had bad experiences with this firm, &I believe many have, pls contact Michael Eavis directly!!

I thought that too! don't know if it was all down to the weather or not, I've been to all the other bad weather Glastonburys but this is the firt time I've come away feeling short changed.
Was it the weather or was it something else?

I've been going for years but this year just seemed to lack something, I don't think it was all down to the weather. It felt like there were to many people there and some of the lustre seemed to be gone. I don't know if I will go again.

I have been to Glastonbury Festival now for many years and next year will be my 20th visit.

Over the years so much has changed as you can imagine. The weather was as usual, appauling, but you dont go to Glastonbury without expecting to be rained on. The market was stocked for the downpours so even if you forgot wellies and waterproofs, there was at lease a couple of places you could buy something to help keep you dry. Even Millets had a stand there to take care of any camping requirements.

Each year there is a different issue which causes people concern and i have heard many tales about agressive security staff. Thankfully i did not come into contact with any. It is such a shame that a few people take their role to mean they have such power over everyone else. We are all there to enjoy ourselves and not cause trouble for anyone so why they felt the need for agression is a matter that really must be addressed.

On saying that, I only hope that those people who had a diffuclt festival this year will give it another go. It is really worth the effort.

As usual my festival was packed with things to do and see (i dont go for the bands on the Pyramid Stage) but prefer to amble around the rest of the site. It was a bit difficult to get around at times but i had my trusty wellies and poncho so managed to get about OK without falling too many times. That had nothing to do with the pear cider either by the way :) I met some new friends and met up again with some old friends and will definitely be back next year (ticket permitting).

Was camping at the top end of Dairy Ground not far from the top end of The Park.

Wednesday early evening just finished setting up the 5 tents we had taken down for friends, there was about 5 of us sat round having our first beer when the security came. He said that he hated having to go round looking for people using drugs and hated confiscating them. We all just kind of muttered and mumbled that we agreed with him that it must be a bummer, didnt really know what else to say, we were all a bit shocked.

Anyhow he moved on and he joined 4 or 5 other security all stood round someones camp further across from ours near the pathway, they started to search tents (my mate went over to see what the security were doing) then all of a sudden one of the security got a call on thier walkie talkie and they all ran off. One of the security was a butch woman.

My friend asked the other campers what had happened and they said they were seraching for drugs and was told that they would be thrown out if they didnt hand over their stash.

I saw the same security again on Saturday night whilst walking back from The Park on the pathway through Pennards.

This years Glastonbury, being my second after my initial 2005 trip, will probably have been my last. There was a decidely agressive atmosphere created by the way the 'security' handled themselves and stormed around the place. Although friends I was with have seen much worse on site, I was verbally abused by a couple of guards for not jumping out of the way of a speeding land rover as quick as they may have liked. despite the obvious dangers of speeding in such a densly populated area and diffculities presented to pedestrians to move in the mud and lack of space at the side of paths as tents occupied any patch of grass I was called a variety of names all prefixed with 'Fu**ing...'.

Generally a lot more aggressive than last time.

Thanks

i may have only just turned 16, but i've witnessed atleast 30 gigs and now 2 festivals. Glastonbury was the best occasion of my life. The Who's performance was brilliant, kasabian were amazing despite me not being a massive fan. Lily Allen amused the crowd with her on stage antics whilst the Kaiser chiefs were typically crowd pleasing. Not 1 fault about it. Fantastic
