Never underestimate the importance of those 'little things!' that combine to make a festival a truly memorable experience - this one really focuses on the music and the individual festival experience because the organisers understand that it is those little things that really matter when it comes down to it and they know that when attention is focused on them they combine to become a very big thing - in this case a small festival with a HUGE heart.
The festival that will once again welcome some 5,000 discerning festival-goers who seek something a a little bit different to the chaos and general levels of filth that's the norm with many other festivals.
The End Of The Road boasts a real sense of community – with the crowd staying the same all weekend because only weekend tickets are available for this festival.
The End Of The Road is held in an amazing venue - The Larmer Tree Gardens which is on the Wiltshire/Dorset border - so is the only festival that can boast that it actually includes parrots flying around and peacocks wandering across the festival site! There is always the feeling of anticipation that something rather special might just be about to happen at any moment, adding significantly to the mystique and magic that those who have already discovered The End Of The Road know pervades the atmosphere.
One of the areas that sets The End Of The Road apart is the fact that this is a truly non commercial festival that values artistic freedom and states:
"It is important for us to keep our creative freedom, so we have taken a conscious decision not to litter the beautiful venue with advertising hoardings. We believe that people go to festivals for the music, not to be sold a particular brand of beer or a mobile phone."
So to that end the organisers see it as being a festival where the little things really matter and the festival-goer is in for a treat: Clearly the End of the Road festival takes a lot of pride in all the 'little things' that make a great festival, such as good food (organic / local), good beer, caring and well-mannered staff, hygiene etc." Kind of gives you quite a good idea of what matters to these organisers doesn't it? It truly is an independent festival with no advertising to spoil that true ‘music’ festival feel. It mixes innovative, upcoming and established acts across all genres- this is a festival that loves finding new talent and showcasing them.
The End Of The Road also boasts a Nordic feel as one of the organisers is Swedish - so to that end they add yet another dimension to the festival with a Scandinavian showcase of up and coming Nordic talent. They also offer Swedish snacks and other Scandinavian treats....
While the festival focuses on music and talent old and new they also offer a range of other festival delights such as:
The Local – a special folk tent inside the beautiful gardens which will play host to pop quizzes, folk idol and general mayhem!
A film area where you can see a range of short films, independent films, documentaries, feature films and music videos.
The End of the Road Comedy stage focusing on making you laugh!
Workshops: including songwriting workshops, instrument workshops, craft lessons and much more
There will be an Open Mic Stage! so you can show off big time! what do you do? who's up for having a go? music, comedy, poetry or something else? The open mic stage is central to the ethos of End of the Road - become part of an experience - you never know who might be there!
A dedicated Children's Area will feature at End of the Road Festival. We will have entertainment from the Glastonbury Kids Circus, a wide variety of workshops for children, a wooden fort playground and a variety of other child friendly activities. As several of the organisers have small children themselves, we are doing our best to make the festival fun and safe for all members of the family! There will be a separate area for family camping this year.
Stalls: Of course there are stalls for you to peruse - these guys are set on bringing you the tastiest food and drink available - locally sourced where possible.
A little slice of heaven in the West Country, unspoiled, ethical and above all genuinely in it for the music.
