Pat one of Galloway''s twice yearly world music events set in the splendor of Southern Scotland  at Knockengorroch Farm.

The festival takes place in a peaceful and stunning glen in the Galloway hills in the Southern Uplands, which will become a hive of creativity and celebration during this family friendly event. In addition to the musical line-up there will be cabaret, comedy, cocktails, real ale, global food, stalls, camping, dance, heritage and arts workshops, fire shows, a healing area, session villages, open fires, star gazing and more..

An array of workshops, dance performances and children’s activities present plenty of opportunities for visitors to get involved in learning new skills and about the cultural heritage of this once densely populated valley.

The landscape will play an important part in the festivities, with every part of the festival reflecting the social history of the once densely populated valley.  The main stage, the Bo Airigh, is named after the sacred cattle that were once worshipped in the valley, the Shieling dance tent is another reference to the land’s prior use and the Celtic longhouse, once a common site in the hills, is revived again with rousing fiddles, sitar and kora.  The festival aims to celebrate the commonality of roots music and bring the people back to the land!

A second event, the Doonhame Hairth, will take place in September and be open to Knockengorroch supporters only.  People can sign up as supporters, or ‘Doonhame Friends’ on the Knockengorroch website.
