A very important festival founded by Tom Toomy in 1999, the festival raisies money for children in Africa. The project has funded an independent music school at Lehlake school in Phokwane. The Lehlake Music Project began and has been funded by Music for Africa, which is mainly supported by people in the UK, ever since.
It teaches about 150 children and older students to learn classical and electric guitar, keyboard and drums in this remote part of South Africa. All the tuition and instruments are provided free. Each student has their own instrument to learn with, which they can take home.
As well as the music and events on offer Music for Africa has a festival real ale beer/cider tent, hot air balloon glow, Bridgettes ice cream, belly dancers, free parking; plus a range of traditional and ethnic food. Gates usually open at 5pm with music from 6pm until 11.30pm. Camping and Caravan facilities are available locally at The Masons Arms in Odcombe.

The Stated Mission of Music For Africa is:
Our Mission is to bring music in to the every day lives of young people in South Africa. We aim to provide young people with life enhancing access to music, particularly those in marginalized and subsistence level communities who otherwise would have no such opportunities, as a result of the apartheid era.
We inspire a love of music embracing classical, modern rock and traditional ethnic music. In so doing we raise skill levels, self-esteem, motivation, career and employment prospects. We empower and enable people across the community through music, ensuring skills are embedded to deliver long-term impact through sustainable provision.
