Riverside is operated by a small team of volunteers comprising a registered charity who run the event on a not-for-profit basis. The festival features 4 stages of live music with 40+ bands and artists and more than 150 musicians.
The Riverside stage is the main festival stage featuring a wide variety of music from local bands with guest artists from across the UK. The Marquee Stage is dedicated to indie, emo, metal, rock, thrash and nu and old skool punk music. The Acoustic Stage - the ethos of this stage is to provide a platform for acts with acoustic, folk, jazz, world and blues influences.
The festival also features a Buskers Stage which is a more spontaneous and informal affair; artists can pre book a 20 minute slot to play or just turn up on the day and try and secure a vacant slot to perform
The Beer Festival -this is a festival within a festival in conjunction with the Bourne Round Table. A wide range of real ales and ciders are available to try in the 200’ long bar. The proceeds from the bar are split 50/50 between Riverside to help with the cost of staging the event and Bourne Round Table who distribute their funds to local charitable causes.
The festival also features a traditional Fun Fair & plenty of children’s entertainment - during the afternoon a plethora of entertainment aimed at younger audience members will be offered including face painting, and other artistic activities together with a host of traditional fair ground attractions.
There will be plenty of Catering & Stalls within the festival with a wide variety of catering outlets offering food from around the world, and when people want a break from all that entertainment the stalls offer a spot of retail therapy and information about local charities and voluntary groups
To round the whole event off the organisers have arranged a grand firework finale so you'll finish the whole day at the Meadows off with a fabulous firework finale which this year is being sponsored by Waitrose.
Headlining the Riverside Stage this year are London/Irish punk folk troubadours, Neck, who play a fast and furious psycho ceilidh which mixes full-tilt jigs and reels with raucous songs. Neck have built up a great live reputation over 8 years which has taken them from Moscow to Texas with no less that 6 appearances at Glastonbury. They have supported Shane MacGowan, The Levellers, The Undertones, DropKick Murphys and Flogging Molly. Their debut album is out soon on Golf Records.
Also on the Riverside Stage are fast-emerging 80s-style indie-electro act, Rosie & The Goldbug. The three-piece from Cornwall have already had a number 1 in the UK club charts and their track, Butterfly, is the soundtrack to a new Rimmel London TV advert which will go out across the globe this summer. Their music is joyous and uplifting with reminders of Cyndi Lauper, or as they say 'Kate Bush on crack'. The band has already had rave reviews from The Independent, Uncut, Daily Mirror and The Guardian.
Headlining the Marquee Stage are Death Valley Piledriver, awesome metal masters from Peterborough. They have just finished a UK tour with rap-metal pioneers Stuck Mojo and their debut EP Branded as got 5 star reviews, plus they picked up a four K review from Kerrang! for their live show.
Headlining the Acoustic Stage are roots, funk pop act, Nuala & The Alchemy Quartet, led by an Australian female singer and featuring some fine fiddle playing. The band have played at many UK festivals including Wychwood and Larmer Tree and have supported acts such as Eddi Reader and King Creosote. The band are currently recording their first album with producer Jim Barr, who has worked with Goldfrapp and Portishead.
