The Big Chill festival is an annual event that takes place in Eastnor Deer Park. The Big Chill Bar and The Big Chill House are bars/venues located in London. There is also a label, Big Chill Recordings and festival/podcast radio Big Chill Radio. Founders Pete Lawrence and Katrina Larkin started The Big Chill Sunday Social all dayers at the Union Chapel Islington in 1994.
The Big Chill is a whole experience that grew from those very small and insignificant beginnings as a one day event in Islington. It was a success and in the following year moved to the Black Mountains on the Welsh borders, it then moved again in 1998 to the Larmer Tree Gardens where it stayed for a few years and before holding a one-off event in 2001at Lulworth Castle.
In 2002 The Big Chill moved again - this time to its new and current home, Eastnor Castle in Herefordshire where it remains to date. It is - as the name suggests - a very chilled out experience. There are two main stages and they have a cash point machine, bars, food stalls, merchandise stalls, plus a 24 hour cafe. Alcohol cannot be brought into the main arena but is permitted in the camping areas although there is a strict policy of no glass.
One of the events main features is the arts trail which winds up a steep hill - well worth the walk and glorious at night. Be prepared for a really big chill out......this one's a really great festival - a Safeconcerts recommended festival.
