The Uttoxeter Annual Mayfest is a tradtional folk music and dance festival to be held on 2nd May 2010. It's a free event and is one of the biggest traditional May Celebrations in the UK.
Performing will be six dance teams including Black Pig Border Morris, the Legendary Cocconutter of Bacup (clog) also to confirm the world famous Abbots Bromley Horn Dancers, Ryknild Rabble (Trad Morris) and more.
The locally renowed Picknalls School Maypole Dancers and several folk bands including the up and coming Radio Mary will also be performing on the day which will be a truly hectic day of non stop dance and music happening from 11am through to 5pm.
There will also be the traditional May Craft Market known historically as the Gayboys market. The folk music evening follows and will run until 9pm.(Location for this is to be confirmed but will be the town centre)
Based in the Ancient Market town of Uttoxeter, Staffs - only half and hour from Stoke Derby and Stafford, just a few minutes from the A50 linking the MI and M6
The event will take place in the closed off and recently revamped market place - it's a great arena surrounded by beautiful 15th century buildings and steeped in history.
