"Police believe that there are currently up to 1,000 fake tickets circulating for this summer's big Bruce Springsteen and Lady Gaga concerts in Sweden, reports newspaper Göteborgs-Posten.The counterfeits follow the theft of ticket printing paper from Stockholm's Globen concert arena at the end of last year which prompted a police warning to concert goers to be vigilant.
Several people this week have contacted the police having bought fake second-hand tickets online.
Criminal Inspector Örjan Lööf told Göteborgs-Posten that the quality of the fake tickets produced from the stolen blue ticket paper is so good that it is difficult to spot the difference.
"It is impossible to see if a ticket is fake, it's been done so well," he said.
Police believe that the counterfeiters are in the main targeting the two Bruce Springsteen concerts taking place at Gothenburg's Ullevi Stadium in July.
However, fakes could also be circulating for concerts involving Pearl Jam, 7 July at Globen, Coldplay, 30 August at Stockholm Stadium, and Lady Gaga, 30 and 31 August at Globen."
