We must have been at completely different concerts!

Despite the poor weather, Meat came on and lit the place up. He was crackling with energy and good humour as he stormed through song after song in the show's storyline, giving us classic favourites, songs from the latest album and some great covers. The band is tight and really amazing, and Patti Rousseau and CC stunning. His daughter's opening set was a triumph and it was great to see her join him on stage for Bat and again for Roadhouse Blues.

I thought his voice was really strong throughout. The lighting effects were terrific, and all in all it was a solid two hours of rock delivered by the best showman in the business. I didn't see people walking out .. just people rocking, singing along and applauding like crazy. Meat puts on a spectacular show and last night was no exception. The sound is always difficult at outdoor gigs, but from where we were it was great.. If you want perfect pitch perfect songs I'd recommend the records, but if you want to be caught up in a feast of live rock delivered by a man who can still bring thousands to their feet for a feast of entertainment by a man who has been delivering the excitement and spectacle of a huge live show for over 3 decades, and can still do it, then do your darnedest to get to one of his remaining shows in the UK and have a wonderful night to remember!

You want a score?

20 out of 10 !!!!!

Hi i agree with Anon what a waste of time quite simply the worst concert that i have ever been to.
We were stood about a third of the way back on the left of the stage and couldn't work out if it was the wind, bad sound technicians or simply Meat Loaf himself that sounded rubbish.
As the evening continues he was totaly flat and out of tune and appeared to be out of his head on either alchol or something else. Again lots of people simply packed up and left around us as the concert continued and the only thing that held us there was the band and backing singers who were great.

Again seeking money back !!!

Very disappointing. The band and backing singers did their best (which was good) but I don't think Meatloaf managed one song in tune - in fact it was difficult to know which song he was singing. Felt like I wasted a lot of money as 5 of us went.

Venue: Romsey Broadlands [score 2/5]
The beer tent ran out of beer and cider before the concert had started. The trying to leave bit was also awful - couldn't see which way to go and no marshalls in sight. In fact there was a collision in front of us and just as that cleared and we started to move someone hit us!

Yes, indeedy, I am sad to say this was the worse gig ever. Unhappy We go to many different gigs, small to large venues and have never experienced anything like this
I have seen Meatloaf twice in the last 5 years and they were great gigs, highly entertaining and he did deliver by singing superbly. Last night was dreadful because the sound system made it impossible to not feel queasy, it  constantly jumped and moved in waves. We tried different locations and the only place where it was just about bearable was to the right of the stage
Sadly Meatloaf hardly sang much, leaving many songs to his backing singers (who did their best - but we were there to hear him), his singing was off key, flat and cringe inducing. Unlike previous gigs, he did not talk to the audience and it felt like he wanted the experience over as quickly as possible
I can confirm that many left because of the extreme poor quality - we were at the gates leaving contact details with staff and people joined us with the same complaints. The irony is, the song at that time was "I want my money back" Nuff said
One of our group is a long time Meatloaf fan who has seen him countless times and although clearly highly loyal to him, she was clear that this is likely to be his last tour.
The audience did not mostly look typical gig folk, so maybe had nothing to compare with and thought this was the normal experience? Sadly it wasn't. Apart from a small group at the front, the rest of us looked highly bored and 90% were not moving, singing or even applauding much.
He is a great personality who has still much to offer, but if this is typical of his current form, then touring will not occur again. I can only assume that he did not want to let fans down after the disappointing cancellation last year
I wish him well

Well what can I say! Expectations were high.

I have been a fan for over 15 years and have always wanted to see Meatloaf in concert. I have bought tickets three times only for the shows to be cancelled so this time I thought my luck had changed.

I didn't walk out after two songs but was disappointed. Perhaps disappointed is the wrong word 'I felt sad that the huge voice I had come to hear wasn't there'. During the duets, Patti Rousseau's voice was far more powerful than Meatloaf's. We were stage left and we struggled to hear the words he was singing. I have been to many outdoor gigs and the quality wasn't great but it wasn't the only contributing factor.

Pearl was excellent and I wish her all the success, and next time I hope Meatloaf is the powerful voice I have been longing to hear.

How do you get your money back ? This has to be the worst gig I have ever been too. The man is not up to it and should retire. Besides, the sound engineer must have been deaf. We left before the end (a first !) in total disgust, as did many, many other people.

Embarrasingly shocking. Under the word "Cringe" in the dictionary should be a link to this gig. The sound was appalling, perhaps the worst I've ever heard in 30 years of going to gigs, but in the big scheme of things it was just as well. His voice reminded me of the pub drunk having a pop of kareoke, it was quite simply dreadful.

This wasn't a cheap day out - everyone there was conned out of their money!

The whole "Bat out of Hell" times were a big part of my childhood music and it seemed the long wait to see this legend was finally here last night, as a birthday gift, it was the worst ever gift.

The backing singers did their very best to hide Meatloaf's shameful efforts, the sax solo was amazing and his daughter could sing.

At one point I thought I've had enough and a few of us went off to buy some beer - It had all run out!

"I want my Money back" he sang - was that irony!

If you're thinking of seeing him - keep your money.

Utter Crap.

Poor.

Security [score 3/5]
Suppose he might've needed it after that performance.

Agreed with the rest. I've been a fan of meat for years and seen him before in concert where he was excellent. Lat night 5 of us went along and were really disappointed. We thought at first he was putting the ramblings on as some sort of joke, but quickly realised that it was him. Like other a lot of the time we couldn't hear him singing ( we were centre stage about half way back) and the band and backing vocal ladies carried him for most of the night. Goodness knows what other band member s must think, if its cringy to us god know how they are feeling. Sorry but it was an embarrassment and a very expensive one. My friends and I left with a really let down feeling , and looking at other reviews he seems to bhave been the same at Plymouth and Bath already, the rate its going he won't last the tour as fans will pull out unless he changes.

Well it seems like Meat Loaf has polarised his fans again - if you've not yet done a quick review please pop it on here: Review your Meat Loaf concert, and a big thank you to all of you who have already added their review.

I'm going to have to agree with Candy.

Admittedly Meatloaf didn't give a particularly good vocal performance, but no-one can fault his stage presence and energy.

He put on a very entertaining show and had you stayed around to see it, I think it would have grown on you.

Remember the guy's 60 and has a heart condition.

You may be looking for your money back, but you didn't give it a fair chance, and that's not the venue or the Artist's fault.

I stayed to the very end -  If I had to pay £40 for that crap again, I'd have a heart condition.

Energy?

It wasn't entertaining, it was embarrassing.

Even the most rose tinted fans can see this?

I stayed to the end too - at least to give the guy a chance if nothing else. Finishing on 'Why dont we do it in the road' was pretty random

The band and backing singers sounded great, every single solo and instrumental break sounded amazing and as professional as you'd expect at £40. As the wind picked up the intensity of the sound changed a little but not enough to ruin the sound, its unfair to say the gig was rubbish because of the weather.

I really, REALLY wanted to enjoy this concert, and was pretty disappointed by Meatloaf's voice - I won't be asking for my money back, i'll just have to read up in advance next time. I'm guessing they won't be putting 'yeah, and the guy can't really sing worth sh!t anymore'.

illness/heart condition/throat cyst - he shouldn't be touring right now.

...and does he always sing 'I'd do anything...' THAT slowly? The poor dude on the piano just had to guess when he'd sing the next note, I was actually laughing out loud - as were people around me, oh dear

Well can't comment on your location but I saw him at Liverpool Arena last week and he was dreadful.  I'm not a huge fan even though I love the BOOH album but my missus is a big fan and she was disappointed too.  We last saw him at Warwick Castle just after his big health scare a few years ago and thought he was poor then but we put that down to his recovery time.  However, this was just as bad.  His voice was awful, he didn't speak to the crowd until he said "Goodnight" and the rambling comi-theatrical bit he did during Paradise By the Dashboard Light was, frankly, bizarre (as was the reaction of the audience cheering wildly to it, "Ooo look, the fat man on stage said the F word.").  And even more bizarre was listening to the local radio station on the way home with people texting in saying it was the greatest concert ever and he was still the master.  Get a life folks, if that was the best you've ever been to, you've seen some dross.  And trust me, there's so much better out there. As for Mr loaf, give it up, go to your house by the lake and retire gracefully.  You were awful.  Oh, and my missus will have to get her own ticket if he ever comes back.

I went to the Bath gig on the friday night, he wasn't the best i have seen him, Cardiff Castle 2002, great venue, Meat on top form 2 1/2 hours of a man on stage having fun, not just with the music but also with the crowd, power, ability and sheer presence on stage.

Bath 2008, he spoke to the crowd to introduce Pearl, and to say goodnight, his set was just 2 hours long, he seemed to be be straining to get any thing from his vocal chords, let alone get anything out.
Lifes a lemon was poor, he was hardly keeping up with the music
BOOH, the same, and as for the suff near the end of Dashboard, it was cringe worthy.

The stuff of Bat3 was just about audible, and as for the early stuff, I accept that the power he had then is nothing to what he has now, so do what other artists have done, adjust the songs for the voice, not try and still do them the same way.

Oh, Cardiff, no break, Bath a ten minute musical number from the band.

We stayed till the end, but where disappointed with what should have been another great Meat performance which was just not upto scratch. Cry

Pearl was good though Clap

I agree with Rachel, this gig was a waste of my time and my money.

When we arrived we headed for the entrance only to be told when we got there that we had to go to the side behind the trees where there was a queue a mile long! couldnt they tell that before the long walk?

There were two sets of speakers one either side of the stage, when the wind blew...we heard garbled crap. And to be honest Meats voice made things worse. Was he sober?

I also saw people leave after the first two songs.....they waited half hour after the scheduled start time too.

Beer tent had no beer and I drank too much Pimms....got Pimms poisoning but luckily went home about 9.30 and got tucked up in bed.

What a waste of an evening.

Just been to see Meatloaf at Broadlands Romsey.
At first we thought he was pretending to be drunk and would at any moment burst into tuneful song. Then we thought it was a problem with the sound system but Patti and his band sounded superb. Eventually the awful truth dawned on us that the man was just genuinely dreadful.
This was a truely terrible performance.
I don't think it is putting it too strongly to say it would not have been possible to give a worse performance. Think pub drunk singing karaoke. Off key, out of sync and mumbling. The only blessed relief came when he shut up and allowed the band to play or Patti to duet (who was very strong). The song list had been adjusted to remove any songs which required him to solo for long. Oh the irony of him trying to sing  "I want my money back". Clearly this is not a new problem as reviews from Bath and Plymouth are equally poor. There can be no excuses for this woeful performance. If he was not up to it he should have cancelled the tour. Lots of the crowd left early. Foolishly we stayed until the end hoping things would improve. They didn't!!

As to the very few positive reviews on here,
It would seem (Candy and Jimmydee) from reading the reviews that you were the ones at a different concert. Clearly you are incapable of impartial judgement. I wanted it to be great too. But wanting it to be great does not make it so.
The truth is it stank. It stank like a big steaming turd.!

I have to say i was very disappointed at Meatloafs gig broadlands. The band were great as were the backing singers. Unfortunately it was so bad it was comical. His voice has seen better days, the lyrics were muffled and very out of tune.
His daughters group Pearl were OK but in all a waste of £120.00 as three of us went.

Meatloaf, you disappointed my Mum so much she has booked to see Barry Manilow instead! How could you!

OK but Beaulieu better

hi
may i just ask one question?
Were you wearing earplugs or were you as drunk as the people stood next to me
because the concert i was at on sunday (meatltinoaf) he was shocking if he was ill he should have cancelled the concert instead of making us go through that horrible sound that was coming out of his mouth
Im pleased the backing singers were there to help him they were fab
It had nothing to do with the sound system it was him total waster and a waste of my money
