Buy a reliable double skin tent that will keep you dry at night
Arrive early to bag a decent spot but don't camp too close to the action
Avoid pitching your tent near the toilets
Take a wind-up mobile phone charger to keep in touch with friends
Attach a windspinner or bunting to your tent so you can find it again
Take a head torch to guide your way to the bar/loo/your tent
Take a collapsible water container for cooking and washing
Carry your valuables with you at all times
Buy travel towels and pillows that don't take up much space in your rucksack
