A.P.Security were responsible for the arena security at Leeds festival this year, A.P. Security staff really impressed Safeconcerts with their friendly attitude and exemplary behaviour toward the festival crowd whilst at the same time carrying out the role to the highest level and standards of professionalism. It's a real pleasure to be able to say that we have observed this security firm at work and are confident they are more than worthy of recognition, so our first ever Safeconcerts award for excellence goes to APS for being the most professional, effective and competent security firm we've seen in action, the first firm we've seen who we feel have really earned the right to wear that 'customer protection' logo.
The Leeds festival crowd was a great crowd on the whole, but you know, it's not the easiest crowd to deal with, it's highly exuberant and predominantly young, so people have massive levels of energy, and the crowd likes to get in there and do all those things that can get them into trouble. Security have to deal with this constantly and all security firms working the pits have quite a tough job on their hands.
So what made APS stand out from the others? What was it that distinguished them and made us think that they were worthy of specific recognition?
What we saw consistently throughout the weekend was a very obvious and notable difference in staff attitude toward the festival crowd, despite the fact that there was, on occasion, extreme provocation, ASP staff carried out their duties with warmth, humour, patience, competence and a high level of professionalism, there was a clear expected standard and the standard was unfailingly met. They did not meet like with like, they did not wrestle people to the ground, they did not threaten people and they were not surly, neither were they rude or abusive to people, instead they did the job appropriately and with a very high level of expertise. They made people feel safe and they delivered despite working some very long and arduous shifts, we don't think you can ask any more.
It's a real pleasure to be able to say that what we saw over the course of the whole festival was a security firm who were both highly effective and professional whilst still retaining a remarkable ability to do a difficult job without alienating the public.
Congratulations to APS, a great approach to customer safety and a great approach to customer relations.
