The World Ceilidh Festival at Knockengorroch Farm looks set to start the festivals season with a bang! With only two weeks to go the 20th Festival held by Knockengorroch will last four days instead of three, taking place from 22-25 May with an eclectic programme of World, fusion, Scottish and Celtic acts.
Festival founder, artist and dad Simon Holmes said:
‘we are all really excited that our community festival has been bringing some of the best music of the world to our Galloway home for this long. Young or old, if you love to dance under the stars with the grass beneath your feet, the World Ceilidh at Knockengorroch farm is where you need to be’
Acts who will be doing just that include titans of the Scottish music scene: Capercaillie, festival favourites Peatbog Faeries, fusion artists Dreadzone, Banco de Gaia, the Soothsayers and LoJo, Luisito Quintero (Spanish Harlem Orchestra), Edinburgh balkanites Orkestra del Sol and techno dub masters Zion Train. Renowned beat boxer Shlomo, who has recorded with Bjork, will also be teaching some tricks to festival goers. Comedian Phil Kay will join, as well as top DJs in the dance tent, a silent disco, fire shows, walkabout theatre and a cabaret, dance workshops and performances and children’s activities. There will also be many opportunities for visitors to learn new skills with workshops in skills such as stone masonry, dry-stane dyking and willow weaving.
