Knockengorroch World Ceilidh Line-Up Confirmed
Organisers of the Knockengorroch World Ceilidh have confirmed the line-up for this year’s eclectic May fest. The four day event will once again be bringing a world of music to the hills!
This year the festival will feature revival ska from The Beat, category defying dance music from festival veteran Eat Static, 13 piece in your face Scottish supergroup Treacherous Orchestra, sublime Irish licks and grooves from Lunasa, Fife music industry champion King Creosote, Ska Cubano - combining ska and mambo, cumbia and calypso, and folk and contemporary fusionist Hungarians Besh o Drom. Also featuring The Ukrainians, Pathaan, Kissmet, Jesca Hoop, Flutatious, Zubzub, Sheelanagig, Mungo’s Hi Fi Soundsystem, Kakatsitsi Drummers, Keltrix, Den Collective, Captain Slackshop’s Mezzanine Allstars, Cold Up Norf Records, Sequoia Soundsystem and Edinburgh based new music night Limbo with a curated collection of unsigned Scottish talent.
Beating noise pollution will be the surreal and hugely popular headset disco. Further attractions include workshops, cinema, a hot tub, dance performances, fire shows, kids workshops, sculpture, cabaret, a healing area, camping, real ales, good food, stalls, surprises and more, with impromptu new music collaborations - and opportunities for up and coming musicians to grab a slot in the festival’s open mic slots.
The festival’s Celtic Longhouse venue and Knockengorroch wooden Greenstage reflect the importance of the land and the site itself to the character of the festival.
‘our central venue is a timber stage complete with green turf roof – its custom built, sympathetic to the site and its natural surroundings, and designed to get the best acoustics from the brilliant bands in our line-up!’
Site director Simon Holmes
The event caters for all with a children’s area, family and disabled camping and special family rates on tickets. A bus will run from Glasgow and Edinburgh to the site on Thursday, avoiding the need to drive.
Knockengorroch is taking place from the 27-30 May at Knockengorroch farm in Dumfries and Galloway
