Open Air Music Festival To Kick-Off World Cup Summer

Grendon Festival is set to be the place to be this summer. Taking place in the village of Grendon Underwood in Buckinghamshire. The festival will combine live music, a CAMRA beer festival, traditional pig roast and a live screening of the England v USA world cup game on a huge video wall.
Held biannually since 2006, the festival is now in its third incarnation. This year the event will use England’s world cup opener as the backdrop to a day that will involve a wide section of the community, raise money for some good causes and give the local musical talent an opportunity to perform to a live audience.
Already confirmed for the main stage are local favourites the Scallys, who play an eclectic mix of their own tracks and covers. They will be joined by rock band, the Underground and stars of the 2008 festival, No Elvis. More acts are currently being auditioned and the line-up will be finalised by April. Watch the web-site for updates.
The acoustic stage will feature a variety of local musicians of different genres. Any artists keen to show off their musical talents should contact the organisers.
A fully licenced bar serving beers, wine, spirits and soft drinks will operate all day alongside the beer festival, supported by CAMRA, with many traditional ales and ciders.
Grendon Festival is a non-profit making venture with proceeds going to the Florence Nightingale Hospice and to fund projects for the benefit of communities in Grendon Underwood and the surrounding area. It is made possible by the generosity of many local businesses who have given their time, services and sponsorship. “This promises to be the best event yet. The support we’ve had from the local community is terrific and the bands sound superb – some of the acoustic sets have been awesome.” Festival Organiser, John Davison
The beer festival and BBQ open at 2pm, with musical entertainment from 4pm to midnight. England vs USA kicks off at 7:30pm.
Advance tickets priced at £7.50 are available from the website (under 11s are free when accompanied by an adult).
