Proclaimed by Liam Gallagher as being “on the cusp of something major”, Manchester’s The Rainband, release their second single on November 21st.
The single The Prodigal featuring Manchester legend Rowetta fuses indie beats, traditional strong song writing and a soaring voice. With flavours of Madchester stalwarts – The Stone Roses, Oasis and The Charlatans, the band consists of four lads with serious Madchester pedigree. Guitarist Phil Rainey was previously a member of Peter Hook’s cult combo Monaco.
“We’ve been called the real sound of the city and suffice to say this has been a major year for us. We want to fulfil our promise and be the next great band to come out of Manchester. Just come to our shows and see for yourself.” Martin Finnigan, singer
The Rainband have continuously toured the UK in 2011 under their own headline as well as support tours with Simple Minds and The Charlatans.
The band have major backing from the likes of Elbow and Johnny Marr who have been on record as to say the band will be the next great thing to come from the City. Indeed the band have recently been asked by James to be the sole performers at their music heritage award on Nov 1st to commemorate their first ever gig as James in Nov 1982. James will have a FAC51 plac unveiled at the Hacienda by Peter Hook and both Hooky and Tim Booth have highlighted The Rainband as a band they genuinely believe in.
