Rolling Stones to release “No Spare Parts”
The never-before-heard single off 'Some Girls'The Rolling Stones will release "No Spare Parts" as the first single off their upcoming re-release of 'Some Girls', due out November 21, 2011. First recorded by Chris Kimsey in early 1978, the song is an unreleased track recently discovered by producer Don Was for inclusion on the deluxe and super-deluxe editions of 'Some Girls'.
"No Spare Parts" captures the daring and diverse spirit of the album's legendary sessions. Recorded in Paris, the song tells the story of a trip from Los Angeles to San Antonio, TX featuring Mick Jagger on electric piano, Keith Richards on acoustic piano, Ron Wood on pedal steel guitar, Charlie Watts on drums and Bill Wyman on bass. With a country guitar twang, subtle groove, and soulful storytelling, it's a powerful and poignant acoustic tune from The Rolling Stones and an essential addition to any fan's catalog.
“No Spare Parts” is just one of many new classics included on the expanded re-release of this timeless album from one of the greatest bands in rock 'n' roll history.
'Some Girls' is the Rolling Stones' most direct and diverse collection of material, from Jagger's irresistible falsetto on the four-on-the-floor filler Miss You, their eighth US number one, to the country-flavoured Far Away Eyes via the Chuck Berry meets punk snarl of Respectable. And let's not forget the sensuous, Beast Of Burden, one of Keith Richards’ finest tunes, which reached number 8 on the US singles chart, the garage rock of Shattered, the album's third US Top 40 entry, and the soulful swagger of the group's version of The Temptations' Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me), another timeless offering in their canon of classic Stones Motown covers.
