Ash confirmed to headline Saturday night at Scotland's Loopallu
Third headline act confirmed tonight
Loopallu organisers have announced that the Saturday night headliner is to be the multi million selling alternative rock act Ash who have an incredible 18 top 40 singles to choose from including ‘Girl from Mars’, ‘Shining Light’, ‘Burn Baby Burn’, ‘Oh Yeah’ and ‘Goldfinger’. With a career spanning 18 years, the Irish rock group have lost none of the energy that saw them debut on Top Of The Pops whilst awaiting their ‘A’ level results and since notch up 5 studio albums (and a mini-album) together.
Ash were the first major act Beyond promoted in the Highlands ten years ago. Back in December 2001 the band came up and played two intimate shows, one in Inverness and the second in Ullapool at The Seaforth ahead of the release of the bands most successful album ‘Free all Angels’. This October sees the band go out to play some live dates to celebrate the 10th anniversary of that release.
Also appearing at Loopallu over the weekend are, Friday night headliners The Feeling who have a back catalogue of hits to choose from including, ‘Never Be Lonely’, ‘Fill My Little World’, ‘Sewn’ and ‘Set My World On Fire’, one of the most influencial punk bands of the 70's Buzzcocks, Fratellis frontman Jon Fratelli, Scotlands fast rising stars Kassidy, Admiral Fallow, Rachel Sermanni who will be treating fans with her last full band show of the year, recently reformed and possibly providing the biggest singalong of the weekend, the Bluebells, Tiree's folk rock stars Skerryvore, the ska juggernaut that is Bombskare, recent goNorth on tour additions Paws, The Imagineers and Finding Albert, and finally of course the Ullapool Pipe Band.
Tickets for Loopallu 2011 are completely sold out however, Ash will also be stopping off at The Ironworks in Invernes on Friday 16th September to play another special show. Tickets for this show go on sale at 10am Saturday 3rd September.
