Speech Debelle, Maurice Fulton and more for Land of Kings
Bicep, Trophy Wife, All The Queen's Ravens and Stealing Sheep also confirmed today
Land of Kings have revealed some newly added music acts include Mercury Award winning Speech Debelle, house legend Maurice Fulton, sleazy disco funk outfit Bicep, the not-just-arm-candy Trophy Wife and the wonderfully ramshackle Bos Angeles. Plus, NZCA/Lines, Breach, Hannah Holland, Stay+, Mo Kolours, Dreamtrak, Hall of Mirrors, Spirit of Mantra, All The Queen's Ravens and Stealing Sheep.
On Day 1, Red Bull Music Academy presents a night at the Arcola Tent based around the Miranda Sawyer and Colin O’Toole-directed Let Us Be Golden – looking at life as a hustling musician in the capital. As well as screening of the feature, Eglo Live Band (ft. Fatima and Olivier Day Soul) and Rinse FM’s Alexander Nut - both involved in the film - also perform.
Day 2 is all about The Four Aces – the legendary club formerly on Dalston Lane where Desmond Dekker, The Ronettes and The Prodigy all performed and where locals would rub shoulders with punters like Jimmy Cliff, Vivienne Westwood and Bob Dylan. The programme for the day includes the Four Aces Reggae BBQ hosted by the club’s erstwhile owner Newton Dunbar, screening of the Winstan Whittar picture Legacy in the Dust plus an exhibition of photography and artwork from the club. At night, a crew of the club’s original jocks joins Tayo, Breach and Hannah Holland for junglist revival party.
Elsewhere, those fed up with the state of their love life can find true love (or a festival fumble) at the singles-night-that's-not-a-singles night, Slagbox, Cut a Shine drop in for a Ceilidh and a candlelit acoustic showcase pops-up in a yet-to-be-announced Dalston Church.
Meanwhile London Fields Radio will host a takeover with onsite shows and afterparty plus keep an eye out for the finest burgers in the land courtesy of The Meatwagon.
