Bloodstock 2012 is about to open the gates of hell ... again

Missing your fill of rock? Ladies and gentlemen - get ready to leave reality behind and party hard - it's Bloodstock time!

Bloodstock Open Air is set to transform a corner of Derbyshire into a full on metal heaven once again this weekend when more than 10,000 metal fans make the annual pilgrimage to Catton Hall - the call to be part of one of the top independent metal festivals the UK is too much to refuse.

No one has a negative word to say about this event (a rare thing in the festival world) that's been running in different guises since 2001 with Saxon headlining and a crowd of just 700. Bloodstock is the bastard baby of Paul Gregory and Vince Brotheridge who've managed to create quite the perfect monster - one that put the big ones to shame. This extraordinary metal fest has grown and evolved into an event to be reckoned with which has, year on year, punched way above its weight and its reputation is now (ahem) rock solid - this is one event not to be missed in your rock calendar.

Each time it brings you an array of UK festival exclusives and this year the guys have secured shock rocker legend Alice Cooper, closing the festival on Sunday night, Iced Earth, Sepultura, Nile, Mayhem, Moonsorrow, Freedom Call and Watain all as UK exclusives.

Machine Head headline on Saturday and have asked their fans to choose five songs from album "Burn My Eyes" to play at the event. Friday's headliners Behemoth make it to the festival at last! Following a brush with death frontman Nergal is back and set to blow the place apart.

Bloodstock isn't just about the headliners though - elsewhere there's a great line-up poised and guaranteed to leave you totally wasted - take a breath here we go:

Saturnian, Bloodshot Dawn, Marionette, Viking Skull, Steve Hughes, Metal Karaoke, 4 DJs, Freedom Call, Grand Magus, Moonsorrow, Iced Earth, Sepultura, Watain, Dio Disciples, Behemoth, Commander In Chief, Gonoreas, Primitai, Sweet Savage, Derision, Death Valley Knights, Pythia, Eastern Front, Alcest, Dirty Sanchez, Warhorse, Cambion, Infernal Creation, Fallen Fate, Benediction, I Am I, Cthonic, Crowbar, Mayhem, Sanctuary, Hatebreed, Testament, Machine Head, Savage Messiah, Dripback, Infernal Tenebra, Rising Dream, Furyon, Winterfylleth, Witchsorrow, Sight Of Emptiness, Orange Goblin, Merciless Fail, Stormborn, Wretched Soul, Tempus Fusion, Reflections In Exile, Doomed, Gone Til Winter, Kobra And The Lotus, Corrosion Of Conformity, Nile, Black Dahlia Murder, Evile, Paradise Lost, Dimmu Borgir, Alice Cooper, Re Armed, Flayed Disciple, Battalion, Crimes Of Passion, Ancient Ascendent, Noctiferia, Demonic Ressurection, Headcharger, Anaal Nathrakh, Dream Catcher, Reign Of Fury, Huron, A Thousand Enemies, Shattered Skies, Jager Stage, Andraste, Dave Mcpherson, Absolva, From Ruin, Triaxis, Kyrbgrinder, Dreamcatcher, Zp Heart, A Thousand Enemies, Splintered Soul, Orianthi, Kobra and the Lotus, Mercy House, Dakesis, Skarlett Riot and Splintered Soul.

This year Dailymotion, the world’s second largest video portal, is exclusively screening the Bloodstock Open Air metal music festival live, globally, from 9th 12th August. Dailymotion's streaming of BOA will allow thousands of metal music fans to watch all the action from the comfort of their armchairs for the first time, those that can't make it can watch it and weep...
“We’re keen to showcase a variety of live music gigs and festivals to ensure we’re catering for the widest possible audience. Bloodstock Open Air is a well respected metal music event and we’re delighted to be able to screen it live for those unable to make the event in person.”
Daniel Adams, Dailymotion
If you've got anything left in the tank by Sunday night Bloodstock will present the "Wildside - Party Rock Night!" on the Sophie Lancaster Stage - the ultimate party to end everything on - have you got what it takes?

The 4 DJs Of The Apocalypse will start with their awesome mix of metal classics at midnight; you can party hard like a rockstar along with the Wildside DJs and podium dancers who will be bringing you the biggest cheesy party-rock classics, big-hair anthems, ultimate power ballads and all time metal classics all night long!! From AC/DC to ZZ Top, from Bon Jovi to Whitesnake, and everything Iron Maiden, Motley Crue, Guns N Roses, Ozzy, WASP, Judas Priest, Kiss, Skid Row, Europe, Scorpions and more in-between. If you survive to the final hour, then expect the ultimate big hair anthems and power ballads to bring to a close one hell of a night and one motherfucking festival!
Will you be brave enough to don some spandex and big-hair wigs to leap onstage for some air-guitaring?

Bloodstock is one of those well-kept secrets - you're likely to be a laughing stock if you're not at Bloodstock this weekend so what are you waiting for??? Black, Death, Rock, Goth, Power, Industrial, Thrash, and Prog - you name it - they've got it - with tattoos on.

Bloodstock Open Air is on between the 9th and 12th August 2012 at Catton Park, Walton-on-Trent.
