Buzzcocks are announced as this years '1234 original innovators'
Punk legends Buzzcocks head to Shoreditch
Punk legends Buzzcocks have been confirmed as this year’s original innovator for The 1234 Shoreditch Festival. For its fifth birthday, East London’s coolest festival intends to put on its best and biggest installment yet.
The 1234 Shoreditch manifesto is to always present the best new bands from the underground, but also to feature original innovators, bands that have had a lasting impact on new music, who's work resonates today, artists that are still relevant and continuing to influence new musicians.
Buzzcocks formed in 1976 and were at the vanguard of the UK Punk Rock scene, playing at the original 100 Club Punk festival the same year as Sex Pistols, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Clash and The Damned. With hit singles 'Orgasm Addict', 'What Do I Get', 'Ever fallen In Love With Someone', 'Everybody's Happy Nowadays' and ' Harmony in my Head', to name a few, their music that still stands up today, sounding contemporary, fresh, and most of all still very exiting. This is a band who are just as vital and relevant today as they were four decades ago.
Following this year’s event in Shoreditch Park, The 1234 Shoreditch will go on to take over East London, hosting aftershow parties at 10 locations, all free to wristband holders.
