The Bimble Inn acts are also announced for this sold out event
The Beautiful Days new Theatre Tent programme has been announced, the area will bring shows for children and adults of all ages. The programme includes theatre, comedy, music, acrobatics, mime and magic from companies including Multi Story Theatre, Teasel Theatre and Cube Theatre.
Cornish theatre company Cube Theatre present a new adaptation of the classic story of ‘Pinocchio’ - a captivating tale, featuring spellbinding puppetry, original music, and a bundle of laughs! The Multi Story Theatre Company will present a fast, physical and very funny re-telling of a traditional Russian folk tale ‘The Firebird’. The award-winning Exeter based touring clowns Le Navet Bete present the hilarious, highly visual and engaging ‘Napoleon: A Defence’. The show which includes clowning, physical theatre, live music and acrobatics is a truly ridiculous journey into the historically accurate past.
Dom Coyote and a cast of musicians present ‘The Ruan Tree’ - a twisted tale, using music, story and theatre to build a dream like world where a young boy is lost and alone, trying to find his way back to the summer. Epic harmonies, live sampling, electric guitars, double bass and hypnotic drums weave a vivid, apocalyptic landscape. A unique set design has been developed by theatre designer Michael Vale.
Rob Pudner and Dexter Newman will be kick-starting each morning with ‘Rise ’n Shine’ in the Theatre Tent with 60 minutes of games, stories, and songs with support from the hilarious Hanky Mouse. Rob ‘n Dex also present a 50 minute mini musical 'Entertainingly Different'. The performers, known across the county and beyond for their expressive arts workshops, play all the parts with the help of their puppets. Owdyado Theatre, Cornwall's most exciting company for new writing, put the humble park bench centre stage to explore the dramas that take place upon this normally inconspicuous object. ‘Owdyado use a wide range of theatrical styles from playful mime to mind bending surrealism to bring you ‘About A Bench’.
Theatre company Kat’s Whiskers bring two productions to the Theatre Tent. ‘The Hamwehads’ delves into a daft and surreal world where mysterious creatures called Hamwehads rule. The production has animated puppets, lyrical poetry, catchy songs and a death defying slapstick battle. And their second show ‘Rosie and the Seagull’ also with plenty of puppets and poetry features larger than life characters including Christian the Crab and Shanty the Mermaid.
There is magic from Peter Clifford who Derren Brown describes as “...one of my favourite magicians and one of the loveliest people I know.” Peter performs grown-up mind melting magic for all ages...not a balloon animal in sight. And acrobatic clown and mime artist Mr Be will be performing a unique show of serious stupidity, beautiful skills and radical movement.
Finally, Dickens meets Roald Dahl via Horrible Histories with laughs, frights and live music in ‘Grisly Tales from Tumblewater’ by Teasel Theatre Company. This rip-roaring one man show is an exciting and darkly comic delight.
