Original ‘Graceland’ trumpeter to join Paul Simon and Ladysmith Black Mambazo, with special appearance from legendary Jimmy Cliff on Sunday 15 July 2012

Hugh Masekela will join Paul Simon on stage at London’s Hard Rock Calling on Sunday 15 July to perform the groundbreaking ‘Graceland’ in its entirety, a UK first since 1987.

Twenty-five years ago Hugh Masekela put forth an idea to Paul Simon to tour the ‘Graceland’ album with an array of South African musicians, including Hugh Masekela, Miriam Makeba and 10-man vocal team Ladysmith Black Mambazo. Now for the first time in 25 years, Paul Simon will be joined by original ‘Graceland’ musicians to bring the show back to the UK in London’s Hyde Park.

The groundbreaking world-pop masterpiece ‘Graceland’ generated three hit singles, a five-year tour, Grammy Awards for best album and best record and sales of over 14 million copies.

The event boasts quite a line up and has a different feel to each specific day. This year the event is being held from Friday 13th until Sunday 15th July 2012.
