WeGotTickets Partner With Oxjam Following Successful War Child Campaign

WeGotTickets partner with Oxjam for 5th consecutive year, £2k raised in two weeks for War Child’s Children of Syria Appeal

Rocking into their fifth consecutive year as the official ticketing partner for Oxjam and having raised almost £20,000 to date for the charity, WeGotTickets is looking to up the stakes this year with a record £8,000 contribution to Oxfam. This follows a successful two-week campaign in which WeGotTickets raised £1914 (not including Gift Aid) for charity War Child’s Children of Syria Appeal.
 
The Children of Syria Appeal, which took place between August 27th and September 9th, saw 300 Syrian children tended to in five separate nurseries across northern Lebanon.  400 Syrian children are also being enrolled in schools in Lebanon, a country only 25 miles from the heavily ravaged Syrian city of Homs.

Oxjam on the other hand is set to run throughout October and continue its upward momentum this year aiming for 600 events and 44 city ‘Takeovers’, for which the festival has become known.
 
WeGotTickets has launched the Oxjam portal which features special sections for the Launch Shows and Takeover events. This will offer gig-goers a one-stop shop to explore and buy tickets, and enable promoters to access stats on how well their particular event is selling. The gigs will also be marketed across the WeGotTickets database.

WeGotTickets is looking to shatter 2011’s £6,500 contribution in this year’s partnership with Oxjam through a mixture of customer and booking fee donations. WeGotTickets will donate 50% of its booking fee for all Oxjam events, meanwhile their customers are able to make additional donations to Oxjam (bolstered by Gift Aid) for all Oxjam events, and indeed any events on sale throughout October.

On top of that, WeGotTickets promoters have the option of turning their event into an Oxjam event by donating all earnings or a sizable proportion to Oxfam’s fight against poverty.
 
As well as fund-raising, the WeGotTickets team have helped train up Oxjam volunteers in the science of event marketing. Working with veteran promoters and managers from successful events like the Camden Crawl, WeGotTickets worked with Oxjam at their annual conference to ensure that Oxjam’s flagship multi-venue-event ‘Takeovers’ offer the best in grassroots music this October.
 
Launched in 2006, the Oxjam festival has seen more than 45,000 musicians play to an audience of almost 900,000 people at over 3,500 Oxjam events, raising in excess of £1.8 million to fight poverty around the world.
