Fisherman's Friends manager killed and singer Trevor Grills seriously injured in accident at Guildford venue

Tragedy for popular Cornish Sea Shanty group

The tour manager for the touring group Fisherman's Friends was killed and a singer of the group has been left with serious head injuries after a metal door at the G Live music venue in Guildford, Surrey fell on them.

Paul McMullen, of Disley in Cheshire, died and singer Trevor Grills suffered serious injuries when a metal door fell at G Live in Guildford, Surrey.

The accident happened at 11.45am during unloading for a show by Cornish group Fisherman’s Friends at the entertainment venue. The Fisherman's Friends performance was cancelled and the G Live Studio show by comedian Seann Walsh was also called off.

Efforts were being made to contact ticket holders.A statement on the venue's website reads:
Following a serious incident at G Live during the preparations for the Fishermen's Friends concert tonight we regret to inform you that the concert and Sean Walsh show tonight has been cancelled. G Live staff will be in contact with all ticket buyers again next week with further information regarding refunds.
Police are still investigating the incident and The Health and Safety Executive has been informed of the death.

The Popular sea shanty group were discovered during a gig in a pub and have performed at many events including Glastonbury festival.
