Plus Mike Dennis, The Membranes, Holy Moly & The Crackers and more
There’s going to be a sandstorm at Looe beach, when Britpop legends Cast take to the stage at this year’s Looe Music Festival 2017. They join Lulu, Happy Mondays and The Jesus and Mary Chain in the line-up for the live music event, which takes place on 29th September to 1st October this year.
Formed in Liverpool in 1992 Cast soon became one of the top acts during the Britpop era of the 1990s. Bursting back on the scene in 2012 with the release of ‘Troubled Times’, their first studio album in ten years, Cast have been performing at sold out shows and festivals ever since. Continuing to record new music, April sees the release of their latest album ‘ Kicking Up Dust’. Playing a mixture of new material and classic tracks Cast will be warming everyone up for a grand finale to remember, when they support headliners Happy Mondays on Sunday evening.
Also announced this week is Cardiff-based rapper Mike Dennis, whose boyhood love of Run DMC, Beastie Boys and Ganstarr led him to create the unique sounds of ‘string hip-hop’. Mike creates a mesmerizing mix of voice, violin and cajon.
Blackpool-boys The Membranes followed their own dark path of punk and DIY ethic influenced rock. Receiving critical acclaim for their 2016 album ‘Dark Matter / Dark Energy’ they cemented their return to the stage after a twenty-six year break. Expect a performance that kicks up a storm when John Robb takes the main stage mic on Saturday.
Seven-piece gypsy folk-rock band, Holy Moly & The Crackers join the fun at the Harbour Marquee, if you love rock, pop, folk, blues, Balkan, Klezmer, ska or reggae … Holy Moly and the Crackers cover all angles!
Cornwall-based electronic rock band 50 Year Storm also join the fun on the Sunday. Stay tuned, with 90 bands performing across five stages over three days, more performers will be announced weekly throughout April and May.
Day tickets (adults) are £40, early bird 3-day tickets are currently £99 for adults, £30.00 for under 18’s and under 5’s go free. Available here
