Bizarre Blissfields, the only event where festival goers will get a unique legal high...

First acts include include Metronomy, Lady Leshurr, Sundara Karma, The Japanese House

Blissfields 2017 theme of 'The Bizzare' just about sums up this 5,000 capacity festival that has absolutely no intention of merging into the mundane, few festivals can offer the range of entertainment on offer at this one let alone the value for money and sheer jaw dropping array of unique party themed areas, just when you think they can't possibly outdo what they've already done they push the envelope that little bit further, 2017 will offer the chance to experience something truly out of the ordinary at a UK festival.

After building a two-story house in the center of the 2016 festival, Blissfields have this year taken their thematic installation to the sky. From the center of the event you’ll be able to soar upwards into the clouds for a full 360 birdseye view of the site with FREE HOT AIR BALLOON RIDES.

“I used to run free tractor rides back when the festival was on the land behind our house. We wanted to bring a bit of that back, only on a scale we could never have done back then”.
Paul Bliss

First acts announced include Metronomy, Lady Leshurr, Sundara Karma, The Japanese House, S4U, and BBC Radio 1 Xtra’s Sian Anderson who lead the first wave for the independent festival.

Following the release of their second consecutive top-20 album, 2016’s hugely acclaimed ‘Summer 08,’ Metronomy have well and truly cemented themselves as crossover electronic pop royalty, and one of the most exciting new wave groups of a generation. They head the pack for Blissfields’ monumental 2017 gathering that will see some of the biggest emerging talent and household names come together for an intimate gathering in Hampshire.

The event will be welcoming ‘Queens Speech’ freestyler Lady Leshurr to the main stage, as well as BBC Radio 1 Xtra’s Sian Anderson who will headline The Blisscotheque – a double decker Routemaster kitted out for the ride of your summer! They both play another huge part in Blissfields grime legacy that has previously seen standout performances from the likes of Akala, Dizzee, Madam X, and Logan Sama.

Elsewhere, grime crossover outfit S4U have already been tipped by Noisey as “the sound of your new favourite pop group”, their TLC-like grooves also chalked for The Blisscotheque, where Reprazent Radio and Rinse FM figure Naina will be taking to the wheels.

There’s a welcome return this year for festival favourites and Blissfields family Beans On Toast and Dub Pistols, as well as Sundara Karma whose debut album ‘Youth Is Only Ever Fun in Retrospect’ was released this week to praise from The Independent, Line Of Best Fit and DIY Magazine, who say “chant-a-long choruses are guaranteed.” They make their second visit to Vicarage Farm this year.

New arrivals into “The Bizarre” include The Japanese House who just took the #4 spot on NME’s essential new music for 2017 poll, comparing her hugely melodic sound to “Tame Impala’s chilled moments crossed with Jamie xx’s magical rhythms.”

BBC Radio 1 Xtra’s Jamz Supernova’s NUMBER #1 EP OF 2016 recipient Bonzai takes her place for 2017, while D&B is once again on the post sundown agenda with neuro-funk innovators The Upbeats, Delta Heavy and INSIDEINFO backdropping your late night escape into the summer. With over 100 more acts still to announce, including Friday Night’s headliner… it’s shaping up to be the “smallest big party” of 2017.

In July 2017 the very fabric of your perception is warping beneath Vicarage Farm as Blissfields breaks on through to the under side. What will we find together, exploring both the very real and the very unreal of the bizarre? A tunnel through the fantastic, via fantasy and freakshow, will see the festival celebrate and fearfully poke the unknown. Blissfields will be the gateway into new frontiers where only the unexpected can be assumed.

All manner of creatures from this realm will mingle with ambassadors and accidental travellers from the infinitum. Will you seize the day and represent the living curiosities of our own offbeat world, or come clean, shed your mortal disguise and party with us as the unique creature you are inside.

Blissfields is once again creating a playground from the imagination for you to discover across the intimate tree-lined site. With brand new art installations planned to bring the bizarre to life, the corner of English countryside will be a vibrant backdrop to one of the biggest celebrations of… odd.

Get your tinfoil hat on, say its name three times, pile the televisions from floor to ceiling, and play nothing but David Lynch in reverse. The Twilight Zone is coming to Hampshire.

As part of the festival’s celebration of all things weird and wonderful this July, Blissfields will be inviting some vintage wonders to the site with a Victorian Funfair to accompany the hot air balloon lofting above. Don your top hat and glitter and spin yourself dizzy with a throwback to the curiosity carnivals of yesteryear.

One area that Blissfields have listened to attendees is toilets. Let’s face it; everybody poops. This year Blissfields is pleased to offer real loos across the whole festival site, so say goodbye to dimly lit plastic sweatboxes and hello to a little home comfort.

While Blissfields greets early arrivals from the Thursday afternoon for a welcome night shindig, they know that not everybody can be there for the start of festivities. That’s why in 2017 the festival is offering Premium allocated camping - the chance to reserve a prime location in advance, removing all the hassle and hustle from your arrival.

The family friendly festival for forward thinking music fans will be inviting many of its collaborators back this year including the AIF Award Winners’ Hidden Hedge, who claimed the prize for most “Unique Festival Arena” of the year. Once again they’ll be building a dystopia within utopia… crash-landing its Boeing cockpit into a VJ stage.

This will also see a return of the new Bay area – a beach installation for big and little kids alike – moving to a new home on site.

The festival within a festival for little Blissfieldians and their families, Angel Gardens is back in 2017 programming a non-stop multi venue experience for any age. The area will see art, fantasy, sport, dance, music, dress-up, education and even some politics turned into fun and games designed to engage and entertain. Due to its high level of diverse programming Blissfields is classed as “off site learning” which means that parents can request a letter for schools that means that no days are marked as absent while at the event.

The Craft Area and an all new A-Z Arena will be hosting immersive and hands-on activities across the weekend, with some theatrical twists while The Larch will stage low-key performance by day and outrageous parties and night including the Silent Disco.

Tickets are on sale now priced at just £95 for an adult weekend ticket, with no booking fee. No fuss. No muss. Your ticket price is what you pay.

Blissfields is a truly unique festival and in our opinion is unrivalled in its class, it's safe, very friendly and offers far more than most of the big festivals out there, but don't run away with the idea it hasn't got that edge, there's some very serious partying going on here. If you want something a bit different, value for money, independent and non-commercial but with all the glitz of a huge event - this is the one for you.

Blissfields will take place on the 6th to the 8th July 2017 at Vicarage Farm, Woodmancott, Winchester, Hampshire
