The xx added to Oslo's Øya Festival

Plus Pixies, Young Thug and more

Norway’s Øya Festival have unveiled new additions to the 2017 line up, joining the likes of previously announced artists such as Lana Del Rey, Mac DeMarco and Vince Staples in Oslo this year will be Thursday 10 August headliners, The xx, whose latest visceral electronic pop LP offering, I See You, has gone straight in the UK Official Album Chart at Number 1.

Headlining the main stage in Tøyenparken on Friday 11 August will be Pixies, in what will be new bassist Paz Lenchantin's first Norwegian outing with her bandmates, Black Francis, Joey Santiago and David Lovering. With a musical history spanning over 30 years, 5 studio albums and an 11 year hiatus from 1993 - 2004, Pixies hysteria has reached fever pitch once again off the back of their 2016 album, Head Carrier.

Joining them will be one of Atlanta's hottest exports, Cash Money signee Young Thug, London-based Welsh singer-songwriter Kelly Lee Owens and Norwegian DJ/producer Cashmere Cat. Having produced music for the likes of Kanye West, Ariana Grande and more, Cashmere Cat (real name Magnus August Høiberg) will be releasing his debut album, Wild Love, on Benny Blanco's imprint this year.

Øya seeks to operate in the most environmentally sound approach possible, the event is powered by sustainable electricity, while all of the festival waste is hand-sorted and recycled which means that 70% of it can be reused. Most of the food served at Øya is organic and locally sourced from small scale providers, and all caterers are required to deliver a menu that’s at least 50% meat-free.
Tickets are on sale at 2684 NOK (approximately £250) for a five-day pass and 949 NOK (approximately £89) for a day ticket.
Tickets are available from the Festival Website

Øya Festival takes place from the 8th to the 12th August 2017 at Tøyenparken, Oslo
