Spiritualized with the Oslo Philharmonic added to Norway's Øya Festival

Plus Feist, The Shins, Gabrielle and more

Norway's Øya Festival have added further additions to its 2017 line up. Joining the likes of previously announced artists such as Lana Del Rey, The xx, Chance The Rapper, Pixies and Mac DeMarco will be Canadian indie star Feist, who will be performing live for the first time in five years as rumours swirl that she's preparing to release a new album this year.

Also making the trip to Oslo this August will be: The Shins, who have recently announced the release of their fifth studio album Heartworms; Detroit hip-hop raconteur Danny Brown, known for his dynamic live performance and outrageous stage antics; Young Turks' finest, Sampha, who recently released his debut album Process to rapturous critical acclaim; and British space rock outfit Spiritualized, who will be joined on stage by Oslo Philharmonic for a not-to-be-missed, one off performance.

Representing the fine local talent bursting out of Norway are synth multi-genre outfit and recent Bella Union signing Broen, electro pop hit-maker Gabrielle, upcoming punk group Hjerteslag, and Hilma Nikolaisen, known for her role as bass player in her brother Emil’s psychedelic noisepop outfit and 4AD signee SerenaManeesh.

Beyond the music, Øya seeks to operate in the most environmentally sound approach possible. The entire event is powered by sustainable electricity, while all of the festival waste is hand-sorted and recycled which means that 70% of it can be reused. The audience also benefits almost all of the food served at Øya is organic and locally sourced from small scale providers, and all caterers are required to deliver a menu that’s at least 50% meat-free.

Tickets are on sale at 2684 NOK (approximately £250) for a five-day pass and 949 NOK (approximately £89) for a day ticket. Tickets are available from the Festival Website

Øya Festival takes place from the 8th to the 12th August 2017 at Tøyenparken, Oslo
