Parties & Spectacles added to Blissfields Festival

But there will be no Blissfields in 2018...

Blissfields have announced plans for a gap year, promising an intimate invite-only “return to its roots” in 2018 - but for this year they are unveiling plans for spectacles and parties at the 2017 Festival.

After unveiling the final parties and spectacles for its biggest ever programme this year, organisers of Blissfields have confirmed that ten years after its last breather the main summer event will be returning to its roots in 2018 for a smaller, invite-only gathering.

The festival, now in its 17th year, started life in the back garden of founders Melanie and Paul Bliss and has since grown to a multi-industry-award winning 4,000 capacity event with previous musical guests including Mumford & Sons, Laura Marling, Clean Bandit, Sam Smith, Charli XCX, Dizzee Rascal, Years & Years and hundreds more… while it was also the first festival to offer headline slots to acts including Bastille and Everything Everything.

Ticket buyers to this year’s party will receive the first access special invite to next summer’s secret gathering while Blissfields are also offering sign-up registration for a second release to follow soon after for those unable to make the July 6th to 8th show.

Expect a main stage spectacle - organisers are keeping this slightly under wraps, but have promised a Saturday night finale to proceedings (following Metronomy’s headline performance) unlike anything its ever done before. The only hint given so far is “biblical – as in, read your bible”. A storm is coming, so despite the fact it famously never rains at Blissfields, get your umbrella ready... The main stage will see a huge end to the party, kicking off the summer for all those in attendance with Blissfields’ biggest ever firework and magic display.

The Hidden Hedge closing party was the winner of last year’s “Most Unique Arena” accolade by the Association of Independent Festivals, The Hidden Hedge is set to close their stage with a 3 to 4am send off featuring aerial acrobatics, lasers, glitter cannons, foam cannons, and Savage Disco’s aftershow… all housed in their one of a kind image-mapped dome. All that after having hosted their biggest line-up of D'n'B heavyweights Inside Info, Delta Heavy the Upbeats over the weekend.

The Savage Disco, taking over the second stage at Blissfields with a rare appearance from Sink The Pink’s kinky festival sister Savage Disco will be bringing the East London club vibe to Hampshire for a colourful, glitter-enthused showdown. They’re a troupe for whom the saying "anything goes" could have been invented.

Breaking out of its home for the very first time, curators of The Hidden Hedge have created a roaming art car in Burning Man style. It will make surprise trips across Vicarage Farm armed with confetti cannons, drag queens, and dancers... eventually leading the parade to the Hidden Hedge’s Saturday night closing party.

Dance Of The Dead is the greatest funeral party you’ll ever have the pleasure of attending. Just like they do down in old Mexico, you’ll be gathered to celebrate the departed in one spectacularly wild and vibrant fiesta!

The UV Paint Party is Blissfields neon take on the Holi Fest, expect painted boiler suits, glow sticks a plenty, banging tunes and neon powdered paint! This one will get messy as DJ Rapture helps us rave till the small hours to dance music, 90’s Brit-pop, RnB, old school hip hop and more!

In 2016 Blissfields unveiled a giant beach installation called The Bay, and this year it’s back – bigger and sandier than it was before. Promoters The Little Festival will be hosting their own bikini and speedo shindig on the coast with guest DJ’s, beach games, cocktails and the famous Blissfields sunshine.

Housed in an image-mapped converted Boeing cockpit is the Mile High AV, this unique booth will see guest DJ’s perform audio-visual shows deep in the site’s treeline.

Not to leave little Blissfielders out, the festival’s family area are hosting a dry paint fight and unicorn ball letting the whole family experience the mini-rave atmosphere. You’ll have the chance to make your horns and ears in the craft tent in preparation, while the face-painting tent will be open to glitter you all up.

DJ Yoda’s ‘Stranger Things’ is perhaps one of the most exciting bookings of 2017, DJ Yoda will be playing his Stranger Things mixtape with a multi-screen audio-visual display.

Also back by popular demand, one of Camden’s longest running club nights and Blissfields family Soundtracks will be lining up a double bill as 2 DJ’s battle it out with all the best bits from the films… without any of the talkie bits. They’ll have their (some would say) infamous dance off competition ready to go, while they spin cinema’s biggest pop and rock ‘n’ roll tracks late into the night at the Silent Disco.

Blissfields will take place on the 6th to the 8th July 2017 at Vicarage Farm, Woodmancott, Winchester, Hampshire, there's a lot going on at this one, truly one of the UK's best kept secrets.
