Royksopp confirmed for Get Loaded in the Park

Now returning for its 6th year of indie-crazed-rock and electro-jackin-dance, Lock N Load is bringing you London’s definitive inner city festival.  Get Loaded in the Park will be swaggering back into town on Bank Holiday Sunday 30th August for another epic encounter on the capital’s finest field – Clapham Common.

The second wave of artists have been confirmed for the event and it's all looking awfullt good for August! Following the recent confirmation of dance legends Orbital as the 2009 headline act this year’s Get Loaded festival will be dancing to an altogether more electronic beat as the names of more acts just added to the bill are revealed.

So peel back those lids and get a load of what's coming up...

The Heavyweights...

Norwegian duo Röyksopp aka Svein Berge & Torbjørn Brundtland are currently on the tip of everyone’s tongues right now following the release of their latest masterpiece ‘Junior’. It follows their massive million selling debut ‘Melody A.M’ released 2001, the acclaimed 2005 ‘The Understanding’ and their hit singles ‘Eple’, ‘Poor Leno’, ‘Only This Moment’ and ‘Remind Me’; which won Best Video at the MTV Europe Awards. The first single from the album, ‘Happy Up Here’ is currently dominating playlists all over the radio, and there’s more sensational songs on the way with guest vocals coming from fellow Scandinavian stars Robyn, Lykke Li, Anneli Drecker and Karin Dreijer-Andersson (The Knife). Put simply, Röyksopp are back, bigger than ever before, and they’ll be headlining one of the arena’s at Get Loaded in the Park this summer.

Other live additions to the bill include the underground sounds of both Parisian super-god Laurent Garnier and German duo Miss Kitten & The Hacker. Laurent Garnier has been wooing dancefloors around the globe for three decades with his broad stylistic range... everything from deep house to Detroit techno, acid and jazzy fused drum n bass gets thrown into the mix! With tracks ‘Crispy Bacon’ and ‘The Man with the Red Face’, Garnier backs up his cult DJ status with two of the greatest dance records ever released and this year he presents his brand new album, ‘Tales of a Kleptomaniac’, supported by a full love show as seen on Clapham Common at Get Loaded this summer.

Miss Kitten & The Hacker have an equally rich musical heritage with former solo and joint projects confirming them as pioneers of what was the electro-clash scene. In 2009 they’re back in magnificent fashion with new album ‘Two’ – the follow up to 2001’s acclaimed ‘First Album’ which spawned the anthems ‘1982’ and ‘Frank Sinatra’. Regulars at Fabric and Bugged Out will testify to their show-stopping credentials and the new show unmasks a perfectly accessible, more elegant, more mature and more distinct - yet, still pop - side.

The Future...

With plenty more live acts yet to be announced, Get Loaded also glimpses into the future with live performances from some of the most hotly tipped artists for 2009... Esser, Trip and Marina & The Diamonds.

Mega-quiffed Essex ska-pop troubadour and former Ladyfuzz drummer (Ben) Esser is the diminutive and softly-spoken presence who writes and plays Esser's songs. He recently supported the Kaiser Chiefs as part of their huge arena tour and is about to embark on his own UK headline adventure where tracks including ‘Work it Out’, ‘Headlock’ and ‘Satisfied’ are set to propel him to superstardom.

Trip is another artist with significant promise. Described as “The Streets v The Clash”, Trip’s debut single 'River Phoenix' is tipped to be one of the tunes of the summer and has massive support from Get Loaded’s radio partner XFM. A chance meeting by the young London MC with the Scratch Perverts led to another chance meeting with Killa Kela, where shortly after, Trip was touring the world with both acts, supporting bands such as NERD, Justin Timberlake, Busta Rhymes, Red Man and Outkast! Look out for his forthcoming album 'ShortCuts' coming soon!

Completing this hat-trick of new talent is solo star Marina & The Diamonds. 2009 is most definitely the year for the leftfield female popstar and although M&TD somehow missed out on the BBC’s Sound of 2009 list, she’s joined the winner of that poll (Little Boots) on Atlantic Records’ subsidiary label 679. This half Welsh, half Greek star is going places - watch her profile sore between now and August!

The DJ’s...

On a DJ tip Get Loaded have pulled out the big guns. In a world where drum n’ bass and rock collide, there’s simply no-one bigger on the planet than Aussie band Pendulum. Tracks like ‘Granite’ and ‘Propane Nightmares’ have become outright festival anthems, and over the past few years Pendulum have smashed just about every festival worth playing at! Catch them on the decks at Get Loaded with MC Jakes. Joining them is another cross-over dnb act in the form of Chase & Status. Signed to Ram Records, Chase & Status can do no wrong. ‘Pieces’ feat Plan B was a heavy slice of drum n bass, whilst ‘Against All Odds’ feat. Kano is an old skool joint of funk flavours! Dubstep track ‘Saxon’ is currently on the radar and look out for a major collaboration with Snoop Dogg no-less... ‘Snoop Dog Millionaire’! Chase & Status are on fire right now and will be DJing on the day with MC Rage.

There’s more heavyweight action in the form of techno dude Felix Da Housecat. The Afrohead man has worked with everyone from P Diddy to The Chem’s and Madonna in his illustrious career and he’s produced some killer tunes in his time including ‘Silver Screen Shower Scene’ and ‘Watching Cars Go By’. New single ‘Kickdrum’ is currently making a ruckus and forthcoming album ‘He Was King’ is on the way. Felix is the original party starter and will undoubtedly blow the roof off at Get Loaded!

Representing the noizy electro scene will be Crookers, Steve Aoki and The Bloody Beetroots. Over the years Get Loaded’s brought you everyone from Soulwax to Tiga, Erol to Boys Noize... and this year they’re supporting the new kings to the throne. Italian duo Crookers are taking over right now. Original tracks ‘Prostitutes’ and ‘Knobbers’ are massive, as were the remixes for The Chemical Brothers and Dusty Kid and then there’s the small matter of the UK No.1 hit ‘Day N Nite’ with Kid Cudi which really brought them mainstream attention! Underground, overground; Crookers tear it up wherever and whenever and you don’t wanna miss them this summer that’s for sure!

The Italian invasion continues with The Bloody Beetroots, part of Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Records revolution. The Spiderman-mask wearing duo’s new track ‘Warp’ (feat Aoki on vocals) is getting plenty of props right now and like Crookers, their DJ sets have to be seen to believed!! Dim Mak’s head-honco and Ibiza Rocks resident Steve Aoki also brings his DJ-stage-diving antics and plenty of (noizy) fun to the Common... plus there’s also two of the best loved radio jocks in the country in Rob Da Bank and Eddy Temple Morris. Rob is Radio 1’s innovative musical connoisseur, Sunday Best’s inspiring leader and of course curator of the very excellent Bestival festival on the Isle of White, whilst Eddy is XFM’s very own Mr ‘Remix’, where he hosts his legendary show every Friday night "Where Dance Rocks".
