A texas hurricane blew through the sleepy town of Shoreham last night in the shape of guitar slinger and bluesman par excellance, Sherman Roberston. Now I must own up to being a long time admirer of Sherman but his performance last night still showed that at he can cut the mustard with any other entertainer on the circuit.
I admit the rather sleepy and inanimate audience did take a while to warm to him but you just can't deny the amazing energy and power of this world class performer. Taking things slowly at first the show really caught fire into the second set with Sherman cranking up the power on his fender.
At last people were on their feet and with Bob Brookes guesting on harmonica, the joint was really rocking. After two encores past curfew (he ain't no conformist) he finished with a blistering 'Boogie all night long' and then he was gone. I don't think the Ropetackle has seen the like before.
Come back soon Sherman.
