Following the Sunday Times ‘Hottest Download’ single A Silent Film release new ‘Thirteen Times The Strength’
Following on from the success of their critically acclaimed second single ‘You Will Leave A Mark’, Oxford 4-piece A Silent Film are set to release their third single ‘Thirteen Times The Strength’ through Xtra Mile Recordings. The strength of the anthemic ‘You Will Leave A Mark’ was enough to propel the band to the top spot of the Sunday Times Culture Magazine’s ‘The Hottest Downloads’ as well as strong national radio coverage and praise in all areas of the alternative press.
‘Thirteen Times The Strength’ is the third single to be taken from the band’s highly anticipated Sam Williams (Supergrass, The Noisettes) produced debut album ‘The City That Sleeps’ which is set for release on 6th October. A subtly powerful explosion of cascading harmonies and harrowing melodies ‘Thirteen Times The Strength’ further emphasises the band’s unique songcraft and undeniable talent for thought provoking, sincere lyrical content.
‘Thirteen Times The Strength’ will be released as a digital download and will be available through iTunes and other major DSPs on 22nd September.

After A Silent Film’s recent success with their critically acclaimed debut single ‘Sleeping Pills’ and triumphant support slots with the likes of The Mystery Jets, Athlete and Scouting For Girls the band announce that they will be releasing new single ‘You Will Leave A Mark’ through Xtra Mile Recordings.
‘You Will Leave A Mark’ is taken from the band’s Sam Williams (Supergrass, The Noisettes, Dogs Die In Hot Cars…) produced debut album ‘The City That Sleeps’ which is set for release in October. High tempo and piano led, singer Robert says of its lyrics: ‘…it’s a song about the guilt and shared responsibility that comes with being white and born in the western hemisphere. I hope it doesn’t come over as too preachy; it’s a song from me to me.’
‘You Will Leave A Mark’ will be released as a digital download and will be available through iTunes and other major DSPs on 14th July.
A Silent Film released their debut single 'Sleeping Pills' through independent record label Xtra Mile Recordings on 28th April 2008. 'Sleeping Pills' was the first track to be taken from their Sam Williams (Supergrass, The Noisettes, Dogs Die In Hot Cars.) produced debut album; The City That Sleeps.
Their music is a piano and guitar led mix brimming with energetic drumming and haunting melodies characterised by lyrics that reveal deeply introspective fictional stories. Their sound is a cross between Editors and Coldplay drawing influence from Massive Attack.
In 2007 the Oxfordians were handpicked by Emily Eavis and Huw Stephens to play the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury Festival where they delivered an outstanding set; being hailed as one of the highlights of the weekend. The band's stunning self-produced debut EP 'The Projectionist' followed a few weeks later along with sold-out performances at the Ultimate Picture Palace Cinema and Soho Revue Bar. The song 'Six Feet of Rope and Revenge has also been chosen to feature with the band performing live in a screen adaptation of 'The Butterfly Tattoo' by Philip Pullman due for release later this year.
