Are the fans who went to see the tribute bands on fri 1 4 11 aware that none of the bands playing that night got a penny for their efforts not even expenses . organisers say not enough money was taken,Could anyone out there confirm this.I am sick and tired of parasitic promoters ripping off tallented young bands.THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPEND.

Apart from the sticky floors as always and the funky smell the venue was good.

Went to see Pendulum last night and f me ... they were awesome, I have seen many bands play here and for the first time I think I can say that the sound quality was awesome. The sound quality and the Academy is usually I pile of s**t. It had a great atmosphere and everyone seemed to love it. But I rated it a 3 as the other bands who I have seen have had a s**t sound quality though.

THE WORST IN THE UK BY FAR. The sound at the Acadmeny Newcastle is always appalling and Ive seen over 30 acts there. For Danco Jones the sound was at least audable. For Saxon it became a mush and for Motorhead it was utterly pointless. You couldnt make out the vocals or the guitar breaks. It was just one dreadful drone. Ive seen Motorhead twice before and whilst you always know what your going to get ie loud trashy rock and roll, at the acadamy newcaslte you just got an earbleed. Totally and utterly pointless. Given that this is one of the main venues in Newcastle for touring chart bands you would think that they would make some effort to either lower the ceiling or insulate the walls in order for the bands to have a half chance of replicating the sound they produce in the studio. Sadly, half the bands I want to see are heading for this venue over the next 6 months. The best thing they could do is to knock it down and start again. Quite simply the worst sounding venue in the UK by far.

OK venue, but they have some strange procedures...

When possible I try to get the seats upstairs which are un-reservered, so I will generally go early to get a good seat somewhere in the middle. However, on at least two occasions the security have insisted people move so there is no gaps and rather than moving people from the left/riight into the midlle, they move the people in the middle to the left or right so you end up with a worse view because you bothered to come early - very annoying.

When the seating has not been available I have bought standing tickets but they leave the bars at both sides of the auditorium open thoughout the whole show so you end up with noise from people ordering drinks from the bar even when the main artist is playing - again, very annoying

There is also a bar at the back of the auditorium and to me it would see sensible to make this the only open bar when the main artist is playing.
