Poor customer care, not recommended

We used to rate this venue very highly but recently it has failed to live up to the standards we once knew it for. We are aware that it attracts some quality bands but in our opinion we would suggest you spend your money on another venue rather than one that seems to treat customers badly.

The venue also fails to tackle the issue of ticket touts who are allowed to prey on the public outside the front doors. We have also witnessed some very rough handling of customers being evicted from the venue with Bouncers laughing and joking about it.

Not good, not good at all, let's hope it changes but in the meantime do bear in mind that there are a number of other venues out there to choose from.

When entering the LG Arena do they scan your tickets and hand the other part back to you, i am just thinking if we arrive and all tickets are checked at such a large venue, the ques will be bad.

A massive improvement! Arena now has very good air conditioning and great acoustics.

Nice food area on the way in; if you can stretch to it try the towerdeck restaurant as the "bowls" were a nice idea :) Probably one of the best arenas right now.

Traffic management at the end of the show was disorganised.

A massive improvement on the old NEC arena..there is actually space to move now, and somewhere to go before the show. Comfy seating, heating on a freezing night and clean.

its actually 14 pound for 4 pints. 3.50 a pint or 7 quid for 2 so saves you going back to queue up again. quite normal pricing.

Far too hot...... I had seats at the back of the arena halfway up and about 1/2 hr before the end was feeling very uncomfortable! GET SOME AIR CON!!!!!!!
Staff were very helpful and was a nice clean arena!

We visited the NEC Arena for a concert and my daughter was taken ill. I thought we would have to turn around and go home - but the staff came up trumps and looked after us, enabling us to enjoy most of the concert. I can't praise them enough.

Our Comments

I find this venue appalling, true, it attracts some top acts but the whole ethos and attitude of staff toward customers and other folk who have to work during a gig is unhelpful to say the very least.

I have observed the bouncers (they do not deserve to be called 'Door Staff') treating people with utter contempt and laughing and joking as they throw them out. I have seen both Police and Bouncers use unnecessary force on customers.

The Police and the Bouncers allow ticket touts to ply their trade openly and forcefully outside the main doors. When I questioned this the police on duty claimed that they had no powers to do anything unless the venue owners asked them to. Clearly the venue owners don't care enough about this issue to take any action.

The staff are all inflexible, unhelpful, unfriendly and even obstructive and you get the impression that this venue is all about the money, and that is all it's about. In my experience there is a total lack of customer care and customer care skills, not based on just one experience but on several at this venue which has been consistently poor on all aspects of customer care.

I simply cannot recommend this venue, it is not one that I wish to attend in the future and would advise people to spend their money elsewhere if at all possible. There are many other big arena's who do offer much better customer care than Birmingham's LG Arena.

A zero score for this one from Safeconcerts I'm afraid.
