ALL I CAN SAY IS DUMP!!!! WATCHED (WELL TRIED TO) PLAN B 5/3/2011.LEFT AFTER ABOUT 4 SONGS AS WE FELT THAT IT WAS DANGEROUSLY OVERCROWDED. BEEN TO HUNDREDS OF GIGS UP AND DOWN THE COUNTRY AND COULD NOT BELEIVE THAT THIS TINY VENUE HAS A CAPACITY OF 3300. IT WAS DANGEROUS AND INTIMIDATING. ON ENQUIRY I HAVE BEEN TOLD THEY MAY INCREASE UP TP 4000, THAT IS WHEN SERIOUS INJURIES WILL OCCOUR. SHAME REALLY AS THE SOUND WAS SPOT ON, IF YOU MUST GO HERE I SUGGEST SEATING UNLESS YOU LIKE BEING BUMMPED AND BUFFERED ABOUT FOR 2 HOURS SOLID!!!!!!

Absolutely fantastic - Free parking, 3 a pint, low cost on ticket admin fee - compare that with Manchester Apollo - Approx 20% admin fee, 4 to park and 3.70 for a can of carlsberg

I have been a regular user of the dome for 17 years, attending many concerts as well as other events and facilities. I attended last night with my older sister (we are aged 24 and 35) to see the prodigy who I have seen before. Fantastic show however felt that the dome was over crowded with some violent attendees. The venue is far to small to hold the amount of people that appeared to turn out and some were children and youths. It should have been a civil enjoyable affair for all ages to attend as it appeared. However, my sister was unjustifiably assaulted by a man and the security and managerial response was appauling. It took other crowd members and bar staff to interviene who were the most helpful to whom we are very grateful. We were sober and had purely attended to see the show and have a good time. It is poorly managed with regards to alcohol, drugs and violence. This is not a general depiction of attending any type of concert and is by no means acceptable. We will not return to the dome based on the lack of support by staff.

Been a number of times to this venue and fully enjoyed it every time. Viewing is excellent for standing concerts with a flat bed approach and seated concerts are just as good. Still an excellent venue for brand name bands!!!

Regular visitor to the Dome and have seen a number of outstanding artists in the last year. Love the place as it is compact, lively and always provides a good atmosphere.

Our Comments

Large leisure complex owned by the council but privately run. Overall capacity is as above but differences apply for seated events. Fire regulations would allow a capacity increase to 4,000 but the Dome is not going for this option currently. Showsec are contracted in for the big concerts - so security and stewarding are being professionally undertaken at this venue. There are also fully trained paramedics on duty at events and an ambulance on standby.
Having spoken to them at the Dome I am reassured that safety is a high priority with the above in place but over and above that they have a proper 'show stop' procedure in place. There are 9 double fire doors and exiting the venue is speedy under normal circumstances - ordinary evacuation was accomplished in 2 minutes 20 seconds.
Being wide and narrow customers are never more than 30 meters from the stage.
Sounds like a great venue!
