Venue is ok but not enough to justify ticket prices that are TWICE that of many venues in Europe. Ireland ticket prices are scandalous!

The venue is great, not too much queuing, bars galore, guys selling bottles of beer on the dancefloor or at your seat, drink holders on the seat in front of you so no more beer being spilt on your jacket. A massive improvement on the old point.

BUT!

Poor sound at Depeche Mode and poor sound at Iron Maiden. The thoughts of paying 60+ for a gig that will almost surely have poor sound is going to put me off returning.

Aide 4th Dec
What a joke!
Not Not Not a venue for Opera
Worst opera I have ever attended
noisy/cold/poor sound/poor ........everything from start to finish
No idea how they got away with such a poorly managed event.
rip off Ireland alive and well!
avoid if you enjoy quality

I was at Aida 4 Dec 2009. The management of the event was not good it was full of delays and large number of people returning to their seats 20mins after the opera restarted destroyed the event (amongst other things).

The transportation and access to the O2 is not every good. I left the event early and the quays were still choc-a-bloc.

On a positive note the O2 arena looks great and is a vast improvement on the Point.

I was so impressed with the 02 compared to the old point depot. We got seating and the view was absolutely brilliant. I didnt feel like I had to live the concert through watching it on the Big screen. I hate to drink out of pints..spilling them everywhere so i really Loved the plastic bottles of bud. Also, being an 02 phone customer...we had access to the blue room which was nice too. We also went standing for the beyonce concert and that was such a different experience too..Last time we went to see Beyonce..We were standing in "The old Point" ...we were squashed together, it was horrible. This time..we could go to the toilet/ bar and come back and our standing place was still there. Very Impressed.

I was at the first night of the string of Leonard Cohen gigs last week at the O2. This was my first time at the O2, second time at LC. The night was a terrible disappointment on several counts.

The first and most important issue was the sound. For a venue which boasts on its homepage of being 'state-of-the-art', the sound engineering was a real let-down. One of the three, phenomenal backing singers was barely audible. The main, Spanish guitarist - who is a wonderful musician, don't get me wrong - was turned up too loud. When Cohen hit his really low notes, which he does quite regularly, the sound was muffled, poor quality, and eclipsed by the other instruments, particularly the guitar. Last year, at an open air Leonard Cohen gig in Kilmainham, with exactly the same set-up of musicians and stage positions etc, the sound was impeccable. This problem was purely down to the O2.

Another issue was the large screens to either side of the stage. There was a delay of about a second on both of these which is more frustrating than I can adequately put into words. In a venue that huge, this is the only means of seeing close-ups of the band playing for people who aren't in the front few rows. It is extremely disconcerting to watch somebody mouth words or play notes which aren't being sung/played at that moment - worse than watching a dubbed movie. Considering the tickets cost 115Euro per person - extortionate wherever you come from - this is absolutely unacceptable. Somebody clearly tried to remedy the situation during the interval and failed, which is even worse.

Lastly, the crowd management was messy, inefficient and dangerous. The stairs are steep and badly designed - being too narrow and shallow for normal human footsteps, so people were fumbling their way up and down in the dark without the aid of hand-rails, getting on everybody's nerves while the hundreds of staff stood around listening to the music, or made some inept effort at flashing torches and confusing matters. It's a disaster waiting to happen.

So, although Cohen wowed us once again by playing an immaculate three hours of wonderful music, the experience was tainted by the major faults of the O2 management team. Thanks for nothing.
