First time there to see Erykah Badu last night...At first glance, it looks really cool inside but I was dissapointed with the whole night. Maybe it was the crowd or the fact that erykah came on nearly 2 hours late to a sweaty, tired and booing crowd...just killed the mood for me and we left before the end of the show. Just to add, bar is slow, toilets are disgracefully filthy ( i think a port-a potty at glastonbury may be cleaner! ) and there was a stench of urine in the venue that just wouldn't go away. She is brilliant, but I'd rather see her somewhere else. Don't know why she always wants to play there. I think it would be amazing to see her at Royal Albert Hall one day if she ever decided to change venues. Don't think I'd go back to Brixton Academy though unfortunately. I prefer Hammersmith Apollo.
Better than usual on the ground level. The gig was not full and there was eneough room between punters. These whose read this site regularly will know of my dislike for Brixton (so why do I keep going back, believe me not by choice).
Brixton was heaving as usual. Sometimes too many people for comfort. Some idiot thought it funny to land a fullish pint of beer in the midst of us. Don't know if security came and dealt with him.Pre-Franz, there was no escaping the thumping drone of the DJ's on stage but worse still in the bar. You might have guessed - i still find it hard to love Brixton.
Well loved venue that gets the best acts. No real parking so best to use public transport - nearest tubes Brixton or Stockwell.
