Modernistic, Good Acoustics but lacking a bit of character as is often the case with purpose built venues but overall OK.

It was the first time I'd been to the main part of The Islington Academy. I'd been to the bar academy and hated how "posh" and souless the venue felt, with the stage at the same level as the crowd, but the Islington Academy is far better. More atmospheric. I could hear a Libertines rip-off playing next door and as Im not the biggest fan of Indie music, this made me appreciate Crazyfists even more. That could be a plus. If you go to the Islington Acdemy to see a bandthey are crap, you can just go into the foyer just outside the room and listen to the band next door instead!
One of my top five venues I have to say, behind The Underworld, Brixton Academy and Hammersmith Apollo.
Drinks are a tad expensive (£3.25 for a Carling) but ialways lots of water if you get dehydrated.
