Our Comments
We visited the Royal Albert Hall for the first time this week for the comedy night with Ricky Gervais in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust; this was our first visit to this particular venue.
On arrival we parked in the Imperial College car park just as we had been told when we booked over the phone a few days before hand it was just a few minutes walk to the venue and we collected the tickets without any problem.
Having secured our tickets we found we couldnt get into the venue properly because there was a problem with the water mains our hearts sunk no toilets no water no refreshments we were convinced the gig would be cancelled especially as the noble fire brigade were in attendance it all looked real serious as crowds milled around equally unsure as to whether there actually would be any entertainment that night.
However, just a little late and the venue was opened to the waiting public and what a venue this is there was no evidence of the crisis that had gone before other than the fact that there were some notes in the toilets urging patrons to use the bottled water to wash their hands and the bottled water had been supplied in plentiful amounts.
What can you say about the Royal Albert Hall? Opened in 1871 its steeped in history and has a long and prestigious background as an entertainment venue offering a rich and diverse calendar of events to cater for all tastes. The hall is a registered charity for the promotion of arts and sciences as was the vision of Prince Albert.
It is absolutely stunningly beautiful both inside and out a delight to visit comfortable seats, very clean, acoustically superb, well signed and with plenty of exits, superb views of the stage wherever you are a visit to the Royal Albert Hall is a total experience that makes your night out very memorable.
What was really noticeable about this venue was the professionalism and attitude of the staff. They were so well organised, polite, friendly and helpful that it made you feel you really were somewhere special and that you were a valued and valuable customer. These people know a thing or two about the importance of a good night out and they know how to achieve it. The fact that there was no evidence of the last minute crisis is a testament to their true ability as professionals.
A rare example of a well run, well managed venue that sets customer care as a top priority by putting theory into practice, living up to and indeed exceeding - their stated values.
We cannot recommend this venue highly enough go there you will not be disappointed.
